    disturbance allowance?

    Hi everyone,
    just a quick question:
WHEN do we apply for disturbance allowance and when will we receive it?
First my hubby got told by clark a to come in 30 days prior to the moval but when he did so yesterday clark b told him that he can only apply once we are at our new place...
(the latter would be pretty inconvenient for us money-wise.)
    thanks for help.

    Re: disturbance allowance?

Its all changed because of the new JPA system.

As far as I know, you have to pay upfront keeping all your receipts for food, hotels, fuel and other expenses like newspapers and toll fees. Then you put a claim in and its all worked out and will be paid back through his wages.

For some reason our last unit move was done the other way round, but I think that was because we were moving ahead (pre advanced) and the admin staff would still be 300 odd miles away.

There are one or two clerks on here who might be able to help you some more. I will try and remember who they are.

    Re: disturbance allowance?

You can claim DA up to 30 days in advance of your Assignment order date, sounds like your admin office are just being a bit lazy.

What Rinky was talking about is your Incidental expenses (IE), hotels and food actuals that you claim after the event. You can ask for an advance for the hotels if you can't afford it up front. Once your claim is authorised it will be in your bank within 3-4 working days.

    Re: disturbance allowance?

Doh! I think I was having a total dizzy moment when I wrote that. It was only a few months ago I looked into DA for someone else. Trawling through the Jsp752? Download.

I am sorry Dini for giving you incorrect info, I will go and sit in the corner now.

At least now you know for sure where you stand thanks to Elsie. Better keep all your receipts still, sounds like you might need them.

Some people are like slinkies, they're really good for nothing...but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs!

    Trying to redeem myself!
Copied from the JSP752 found here

    http://www.army.mod.uk/linkedfiles/s...jsp752ver6.pdf

    METHOD OF CLAIM
07.0124. Method of Claim. Claims for DA should be made by Service personnel using the JPA on-line self-service system. For those personnel with no access to the JPA on-line system, JPA Form F018 is to be submitted to unit HR admin staff. The unit HR admin staff will then check the claim prior to its authorisation by the unit Allowances Checker and input to the JPA system via an Element Entry.

    METHOD OF PAYMENT
07.0125. Method of Payment. The appropriate rate of DA and Child Element may be paid in advance of, but not more than 30 days prior to, a DA qualifying move. DA payments will be made via the Service personís salary. The rate of DA payable, will be the rate in force on the date of the qualifying move. DA payments to families of deceased personnel will be made under arrangements made by JPAC. Unit HR admin staff are to ensure that the amount paid is refunded if the move does not take place, or payment is appropriately adjusted if the type of accommodation eventually occupied differs (see paragraph 07.011 from that for which payment was made.

    A bit like me then.
Gone are the days where you fill in one form and the money is in the bank.

Good luck with it all, it can be a bit confusing sometimes!
