    Re: STAYIN ON CAMP??

    Hi Elle,

Not sure if its the same at every camp..you'd have to check, but before me and the OH were married, I stayed in his room in block accommodation now and then but he would have to meet me at the gates to accompany me in (until he had sorted me a car pass and later when we were married a dependant's pass).

You have to bear in mind that you're a female in single blokes accommodation so you have to respect the fact that other guys live there, it's their home first, not your weekend getaway and camp is their place of work.

I'd suggest your OH asks around others in the block. It may be (as was with us) that having g/fs on camp wasn't encouraged neither was it a strict no-no.

    Re: STAYIN ON CAMP??

    Hey babes
I used to stay with my other half on camp at weekends (not every weekend - but every lot of weeks) . Choc chip right about the other blokes in accom. I stayed in 2 different camps with him - the 1st very quiet (but had to share the loo's etc - but no1 ever there and changed the sign) - also the other place he had an ensuite. Once your behind closed doors and with each other doesn't matter where u r!!!!! I think he need's to check with other guys though to find out weather you can.

    Re: STAYIN ON CAMP??

We only bought our house together 6 months ago and he used to come to mine 9 times out of 10 however on the occasions I did stay on camp it was fine, no permission needed, the first time I went I had to be checked in and give a pass at the guard room but its not a problem like it used to be years ago.

Its far from glam, we had to share his single bed, his mates wondering in and out his room, showering in cubicles with men in the next cubicle and skid marks and filthy pictures in the toilets or traps 1,2 and 3.

Saying that it was a laugh!

    Re: STAYIN ON CAMP??

oh yeah the quality of some of the accommodation leaves alot to be desired.
when out in germany, my first thought on their accommodation wasn't much. Bless him, he'd come shower with me and lock the door so none of the lads would walk in on me and would stand guard at the loos LOL

but then came deepshit and what a shit hole it is. a shared bathroom consisting of one shower and one bath for up to 12 guys, the ceiling falling apart, the light fitting dangerously uncovered, wall tiles missing and mould grime and god knows what else in the shower cubicle.
Not what these guys deserve, not when most of them have given over 10 years of their lives to "the firm".

anyway elle, have fun on camp lol it's an adventure and something you will hopefully look back on and say, yeah it was crap but it was part of our life together.

    Re: STAYIN ON CAMP??

Some camps have a 'no members of the opposite sex after X hour' policy. some are rigidly obeyed and some are not.
When I was in Aldershot the policy in that camp was pretty much 'provided that you are behaved and don't cause trouble then all is fine'
Where I am at the moment (thankfully I don't live in any more) its much more of the 'you are all to be treated like children and can't have members of the opposite sex over'
When I asked if this was promoting homosexuality over heterosexuality (and therefore discrimination) I could see blood pressures rising.
(as if I would ask an awkward question just to stir things up)

Haha, I hope he isn't in an 8 man room. When me and my husband first got together he was in a 4 man room and there was No way I would ever stay the night there, the whole place stank like cheesey feet.

Surely your man can splash out on a B&B on the Blackpool sea front instead? Its meant to be good when all the illuminations are on and stuff.
Or there is a hotel complex near the Camelot Theme park, its got lots of chalets set in some nice grounds.

    Re: STAYIN ON CAMP??

My OH is based at Preston and the camp use to allow single soldiers to bring girls back to their rooms, however there was an incident where a guy brought back a girl after he was out on the raz and she caused a few probs while being there. The CO decided that no unmarried soldiers could bring back people to their quarters, this was at the beginning of this year so it might have changed since then, but your OH should check this out.

    Re: STAYIN ON CAMP??

I think it's only that you need to sign in and out when you leave camp? I've stayed in the blocks for a week when visiting and it wasn't a problem. I think the only rule they had was no girls under 18 after midnight.

    Re: STAYIN ON CAMP??

seem to remember a story back in the 70s about a girl who lived in barracks for 3 weeks. She was moved from room to room, providing "entertainment" for the singlies, without being paid for it. I don't think it went to court, but it must have affected her terribly.

I'm not saying it's still like that now, but I'm not sure I'd be impressed if one of my daughters spent the night on camp.

Sorry, don't mean to be a grumpy old git, but when there is one woman and upwards of 50 blokes the odds don't seem that good to me if something goes wrong.

Tact is for people who aren't witty enough to be sarcastic.
