    Aaw ladies, you all ROCK!!

OK, so seeing him off will be a no then. He hates emotional scenes, anyway, and knows full well that I am a soppy git (I cried at "The Invention Of Lying" ... TWICE!!!!) so I think he'd rather say goodbye at home ... But I will DEFINITELY be going to pick him up. He has no choice in the matter. I have spoken

Th sparkly stuff is a definite yes!! In fact, I've been sitting here all day compiling a list of the most embarrassing things to do and send, and will "surprise" him with maybe on embarrassing parcel a month. Celine Dion love songs CD is on the list. Mwahahahaha!!!

We've got a family photo shoot coming up in March, so will have some lovely pics of the two of us to send him. They won't be ready before he leaves, so will be a nice surprise for him

Also, Project 180 ... a photo a day, put into a collage. I'll send him little batch every month ... our month in pictures, but put them all together in a collage for him for when he gets back ... We send eachother random photos all the time, so will be nice for him, and keep him connected to us and to home.

Really, it's not the "him being away" that is bothering me, it's the not hearing from him for days/weeks/months(??!!) that will tear me up. We have never had a single day go by that we have not text or called. We text constantly throughout the day telling eachother what we're doing, what's for lunch, what's on telly, we text through entire nights of telly programs commenting on them and talking about them, like we're sitting next to eachother, we always say goodnight, and good morning ...

    That's what's eating me up ... I don't know if I can stand the silence ... xx

You'll have to get used to not speaking often. We get some practice in before he goes by just ignoring each other the month before.

I've never taken the husband to Brize but have picked him up, tis lovely the build up to him going is a pain in the arse quite frankly particularly because I can't find a job up here so I can't keep myself busy! I am loving the sparkly paper ideas though, am so stealing those!

I'm going to (yet another!) family briefing day in a couple of weeks and could post you over some of the info from the packs if you'd like? Just gives you some information about what to expect and some helpful websites really but it may be a help?

Living on camp isn't all it is cracked up to be if I'm honest, bit like living in a goldfish bowl! I'd much rather still be living near my friends and seeing the husband at weekends (which is pretty much the only time I see him and that is if I'm lucky!) as I'd have the support network when he goes, plus I'd still be working lol

Lol Bodger!! He got ignored the other night for saying something incredibly stupid, and didn't last the night, so not sure we could pull that off!!

Pixie - Thank you!! That would be absolutely fantastic! I've not been to any of the family briefings (not living on camp, or knowing anyone else with a military boyfriend or hubby, I didn't even know they existed!!) so anything that you could send me would be a huge help! Thank you so much xx

I agree Pixie, as Medic K I had no idea about the briefing days so any more infor would really help me out too!! Thanks!

It's interesting what you say Pixie too about wishing you didn't live on camp, I always thought it would be much easier, but maybe not like you say. How about doing some voluntary work to keep you busy, I'm only saying that because I work for a charity, and we have loads of volunteers..it's very rewarding and you can do as many or as little hours to suit you.

I was thinnking about when my OH goes, and I seriously don't think I could do the long drive down to Brize so see him off, well I could do the drive down it would be the drive back on my own that would destroy me. I used to do it when he still lived in Cyprus and then wouldn't be seeing him for 4-6 weeks so I'd be a wreck with him going for 4 months. But as I sit here and write this, I'm already planning my weekends for whilst he's away, dont want to have much time to sit around and mope, and its my birthday the week after he goes, so better start planning!!
    xx

I'm not going to the other family day now, so sorry guys, I should know by now that things are in my diary in pencil for a reason before I offer help!
