Write him a letter (just get his service number first if you haven't already) and tell him how proud you are of him, how you are there for him and you know he can get through the tough days by focussing on the good days he has and how it will feel to make it through to the end and that it's normal to have bad days and that you love him.

My OH tells me getting old fashioned letters is the biggest morale boost he can have, because he can read them when ever he wants to.

Once he's through training, that's the time when you can tell him how at times it was hard, but that you love him enough to get through it and I'm sure he will be so proud of how you coped.

It isn't all give (well it's not with my OH) there are times, even during this deployment, that he's known it's been a tough time for me (family issues and plenty of them) and he's been there to listen or to offer support by mail/phone, like any relationship, there are times that one is stronger than the other, just with forces, well there is distance as well which is why communication is the key to any relationship, but way more crucial to one with the forces.

You have us for support, family and hopefully friends, and remember - crying is theraputic, I've been known to put on a sad film to give me valid reason in case someone calls!

Letters, photos, get the 2 year old to draw Daddy being a pirate and do some footprints with the baby? All stuff he can put up in his locker and it'll give him a a boost everytime he opens the door.

Collingwood is supposed to be alright. Quite modern if the photos some of the Sea Specs on OHs facebook have posted are anything to go by. What you both will need to remember is that Raleigh is not representative of what the rest of his career will be like and it's a very short time in the grand scheme of things although it feels like eternity at the moment x

My OH is at Collingwood at the moment. It's a big camp (I'm used to Lympstone!)
His grot is nice and lots of room but not sure about anything under WO/SNCO class. Nice area in general. Fareham is a short walk away with some interesting pubs along the way (and trust me if I can walk it - anyone can!) not far from Gosport either and the ferry across to Pompey (or the train from Fareham to the Harbour if you want the scenic route!). x

Just ask him for the number next time you speak to him. You'll get some stuff in the post from his DO fairly soon as well and that will have it in there x

BTW that service number will be ingrained into you before long, when I need my own employee number I can tell you it has some 0's a 6 and some other numbers in it (I have to look it up) - his service number, I have off pat....

Can't help you about the pack though - haven't gone through that part

Its so the DO can introduce themselves and tell you what your OH will be doing in training. My OH was only the 3rd class to do the 10 weeks so thanks to that letter I knew more about what he would be doing than he did. You'll get a load of bumpf about who to contact in emergencies etc and then in a few weeks you'll get some stuff about passout.

I can recommend the Liscawn Inn in Crafthole btw - they were very family friendly when we stayed for passout. They have a page in the info booklet you'll get.

Well its nearly been 2 weeks and I am finding the whole experience easier that I thought and the time is going fairly quickly. Saying that though, it does seem that the next 7 weeks will take forever!
