Hi bex, I'd check it first, but yes I assume it's for all platoons :-)

Hi oxymore, I'm sorry, I don't know anymore and probably won't know until they all get back on Friday, but it's definitely worth an ask. I only know because my OH has many other family commitments and we were desperate to try and find a couple more days together so he went over diary dates with a fine tooth comb! If it's anything like last intake then they will have at least one additional weekend somewhere. Fingers crossed eh? :-)

Yup fingers crossed!! OH put in a leave request for a saturday and got it approved. So if you want to plan something that may also be an option. It has to be backed up though, letter the lot.

What kind of reasons do they accept for leave? My OH has been invited to his old OTC's Burns Night next Saturday and has been allowed to miss sport to get there so I think they might frown upon him trying to get another Saturday off

I think leave requests are for if there is nothing important which they'll miss. As long as they don't miss anything (sport excluded) they can come home at weekends. My OH has booked out both weekends so far and we've either been out for lunch on Sunday or he's come home for one night on the Saturday. Heavenly compared to last term! So Bex, can't see why he shouldn't be allowed another Saturday if mine's been allowed for two in a row so far!

Yeah my oh comes home when they get a saturday night off. His leave request was to miss some lectures, which was granted. All depends on the staff he has and what's going on at the time, and how well there doing. I think that the worse bts are when you don't hear from them ie this week. It would be good to introduce our selfs at the dinning in night at the end of term.

We won't be at the dinning in night, it's parents only. Or at least my OH's platoon has been told it's parents only I was really looking forward to going and had my dress all picked out. I might talk to him about getting another weekend off so we can meet up, hopefully his staff are as nice!

The ball is parents only, the higher ups have spoken despite pleas from some of the staff they are trying to organise something else that partners can go to, but nothing confirmed yet. Really annoying, I was looking forward to going.

Sorry, can you tell I have a chip on my shoulder about the dinner night?! The ball I think you're talking about is the ceildh one. I don't know much about it, it's quite expensive as I don't think you can stay on camp (though that may only have been a juniors rule). I'd forgot all about it to be honest...i may bring it up with the OH when I see him in 4 hours!

Oh left earlier this morning :-( these weekends go too quick! What is this ball about in April? I heard there's a parents dinner thing next week and that partners get something similar next term but not heard about a ball!

Aw, mine left this evening too- just a tip for you all, don't watch Dear John together - I don't think I've ever cried so much at a film! I'm usually fine, but for some reason, having him here made me cry buckets! (Either that or the generous amount of wine I'd had.)
Hope you've all had lovely weekends with the OHs. As for the ball, apparently it's on the Saturday of Easter weekend (so the 7th April) which is a little inconvenient...but I'm not sure that the army take family holidays into account at all when arranging these things!

First of all, good news. Correction to above - ball is 27th April, not 7th which is better!

Second of all. I'm in a mood with OH. I thought that things were starting to get better, so when I spoke to him I actually felt like it was him, not a drone. But then it get's worse and he says he's tired and hungover. Well guess what, life isn't exactly easy out here either! I have some very important exams which I'd really appreciate some support for, but that is apparently too much to ask. It's always give give give. Rant over :-(

    Hi Vita,
Don't think your the only one with a tired oh mine had the hangover bit lasst week with 4am drunk phone calls! OH keeps forgetting to try and get ball tickets so ill see if I end up going! But have been told that his platoon are holding a cocktail night mid march as parnters wasn't allowed to the dining in night.
I'm going down next sat and sunday, they have inter company sports comp but OH tells me he can sign me onto camp to go watch as there allowed visitors on camp now..

Thanks rf, I think I know deep down that it's not his fault but it doesn't stop it being hard sometimes... I think I'm just being a bit of a stroppy cow as it's my turn to be doing something demanding and difficult, but it still seems to be me holding things together. Maybe it's more of a female role!
