    Cool Calling all military spouses!!

I am a military spouse and currently on a foreign posting with my husband, during this time I am in completing a PhD The Impact of British Military Foreign Postings on Accompanying Spouses. I have progressed well with my study and have interviewed military spouses based in my foreign posting including one male...hoorah!!

I am now at a point where I have created a website for the next phase of my study so that I can hold an online forum with spouses who have also been on a foreign posting(s) in worldwide locations. Would you like to take part? Or do you know of any military spouses who have been on a foreign posting with the British Military, who may fancy taking part in a short-term forum? In brief I will be posting one or two questions a week on my forum over a 6 8 week period, and participants can be involved as much or as little as they like, and they can choose to remain anonymous. If you are interested or know someone who may be interested please have a look at www.operationspouseoverseas.co.uk for full information.

By involving more military spouses from other foreign postings adds more variety to my study, so any suggestions are much appreciated! YOUR OPINIONS ARE SO VITAL! So if you are interested please have a look at my website www.operationspouseoverseas.co.uk

I am a civilian researcher and am completely independent of the three Military Services, and I have ethics approval from the University of Plymouth and from the MoD Research Ethics Committee. The work will become part of my PhD thesis. I will also send a short report to the MoD when the study is completed. Please note I have previously contacted Site Admin for ARRSE, RumRation and RearParty and they are aware of my study and have said it is OK to advertise on the forum.

Many thanks for your support and interest!
I look forward to hearing from you!

    What's the angle?

Psychology, sociology, human geographic, anthropological, communication, political science (systems analysis)? The human science impact of living abroad in a semi-British enclave is a vast subject even for a PhD - would you post your short report here once you're done, out of interest?

I am using an ethnographic basis for my study, there is a clear pyschosocial element to it, but I am not a trained pyschologist so I won't be going down that road! I think after I submit by thesis, which is hopefully next year (!) I should be able to provide a link to any articles I have published.

    Thanks for your interest

I too am a "husband of", and am presently on my third overseas posting accompanying my spouse, we are a family with 2 children so my perspective on life may be of interest to you, drop me a PM if you are interested.

Whist I am a new member of this site I have been a member of the Arrse site for sometime under a different name, I just occasionally drop in here to see if there is anything of interest but have not felt the need to contribute before.

Excuse me if I've got this wrong but I get the distinct impression that you are intimating that you find us dull ........ if I'm wrong I apologise and welcome.

Maybe it's because we don't have a Naafi bar

As you may well have guessed I am very much in a minority on this site therefore I do not wish to leap in and shout my mouth off unless I have something worthwhile to contribute, this site provides an interesting perspective on the ups and downs of being associated with someone serving in the Army.

More than happy to introduce myself but need to remain discreet as it would not take the brains of an Archbishop (if the Cof E allowed them) to work out exactly who I am and I feel a degree of privacy is still desirable.

Bye the way I certainly do not find this site dull, and feel at my age I have probably moved on from the Naafi bar, I just can't keep up the pace anymore.

Ronnie, don't worry, we're all concerned about persec and the Mods keep a keen eye open. We all like to keep our OH and our own IDs well under wraps.

But welcome! White wine please as the bar is open over here
