Eeps - just had phone call from OH who has had a meeting about where he could be posted once he leaves Sandhurst. They are all over the place and none near London really.

It suddenly all seems very real! I'm an army wife!! (It's only taken 8 months to sink in )

Ahhh I had giggles when I read this. I am sure you will do fine (although I can't talk as I am not an army wife and refuse to move more than an hour from London!)

Oh its not just wives, Mr Boots has to tell potential recruits that they could be posted overseas and they say "I can't I've got a girlfriend/kid/mam/dog/car!"
    Mimi: "I'm a fat f*ck. I'm a f*cking fat f*cker".

Char, I know what you mean. I had the realisation around the time of RSBs that this was real. And it hit me that she might have to go to Germany for 3 years. It knocked me for 6!! Still have "oh bloody hell" moments, but not sure when we find out about destinations... I will ask her this evening!! EEK!

Hi guys! I'm in the same boat! Fiance finishes RMAS in April, and no idea where he's going yet. I want to try and apply for jobs near where he's going to be.. and we want to get married in 2012 but no idea when to book as don't want the army to turn round and say, 'actually we're sending you away, you'll have to postpone the wedding'..eek! Think we may all have to just get used to this state of unknowing...

Frenchie the army do try to "honour" weddings if they're already booked but don't hold your breath. 6 months before I was due to get married we were told he was off to the sandy place 3 weeks before the date - so it had to be moved, which left me 3 months to organise it all again! I would say just book it and take out insurance that covers military movements - that way if it has to be re-arranged you'll get deposits etc back.

As for postings I think you just have to go with it and make the most of it. If you're not keen then perhaps buy a house somewhere you both like and have him travel home at weekends.

I've moved around all my life being a forces child then in the military myself so it doesn't bother me. Although I have told Mr M if he ever gets posted to Aldershot he can go on his own!

Ha ha, Mrs M. I was an army child too, and the only stipulation I have said is I will not go to Woolwich or Hounslow.

Yes, get that pencil out. I had to arrange my wedding in a week. It was a registry office though, which makes it somewhat easier.

Our options are: Chester, Harrogate, Inverness, Edinburgh, Colchester or Germany. Not commutable! I really want to do a PGCE in Secondary History but I've just been looking and both the Essex & Edinburgh University courses (which we would prefer) are full so now I'm really depressed

Have you had a look at York? It's not far from Harrogate really.

Leeds and Bradford are also not very far from Harrogate. Plus Harrogate is a lovely town!

Hey Char, you can do PGCE through the OU you have to set up the schools yourself but its always an option or maybe look at STT?

Char, have you looked at GTP through local schools? Our particular council doesn't do it anymore, but I know some do if you can't get the PGCE course in time x
