    Where in the world

To set the background- my wonderful man has supported me financially & emotionally for the last few months before l got back into world of work therefore l want to say thanks and really with work for both of us its gonna have to be a weekend uk break.

My geography of South of England isnt great but l would like a nice boutique hotel somewhere pretty, country side for walks or area of natural beauty or quainty city village area that has a nice pub or the like, perhaps a spa area hot tub/pool and not more than 2 hours drive from us in Hampshire/Surrey.

Where possible l dont want to spend the world on a hotel but lm willing to spend a bit on a bit of luxury!

Can anyone advise me on locations or point me in direct of good websites, probably looking at going at start of Nov.

    Thanks!

    Re: Where in the world

We've talked about New Forest in the past - is there any central town or village that l should google for hotels? My geography is pants - been here for nearly 3 months and l know how to get to Farnham and Guildford and thats it!!! If we go anywhere OH is the designated driver usually or gives directions!

I really want to keep it a surprise from him and just tell him to pack a bag with some outdoor gear (lets face it we are gonna need water proofs it will be Nov!) without having to tell him the location!

How about a different tact, Purdy?

There's a great website called Mr & Mrs Smith that specialises in boutique luxury and spa hotels. Search by country then county.

    Loads within your target area

For a really lovely, quaint village setting try Bosham, east of Portsmouth, by the water, with fantastic walks in the local countryside. Its pretty close to Chicester as well, which is lovely too!

This is a gorgeous looking hotel, although I don't know what its like to stay at! http://www.millstream-hotel.co.uk/

If it's November, then what about a little cottage with a lovely open fire somewhere instead?

    Re: Where in the world

We did the open fire cottage at start of the year and then feel guilty not bringing step son and dog with us too - and OH would feel the same!

I just want one night away just us, somewhere lovely without the entourage and before he goes on exercise for a month!

Ive got a few ideas in New Forrest now thanks - just need to get himself tied down to dates which at the minute with his job is going to be the difficult thing

Ive booked a lovely little Inn in New Forest - thanks to White Rose for the Fullers Website - perfect!!! Fourposter beds, log fires, long walks and lots of lovely food and drink - perfect!

AND if worst comes to worst they accept smelly old doggies so he can come too if we cant get him minded for the night!!! His smelly breath really adds to the air of romance!
