Have I landed on my feet here?

First posting as a Mrs, the pad's fine, we're in a nice area and the girls took me under their wing when the hubby wasn't here in the first week.

I applied for a job in my career section and got it on the spot and I've made some nice friends. Have been invited out on regular girly nights/couples nights out which should come in useful when hubby goes away.

And a moment ago I got a nice guy in uniform knocking on my door with a bunch of flowers and a card signed by the whole company as a 'congratulations on your wedding' type thing.

This is way better than what I was led to be expected! They even bought us a pan off the wedding list before we got here. I'm literally fainting in shock at how nice everyone is. I should have done this years ago...

Bl**dy hell, I married into the wrong regiment.

To be fair to them I did get flowers from hubbys mess and his company when I had our baby so cannot complain.

Don't know if it's normal or not ... to be honest I haven't heard a peep from Mr Law's lot since he left 3 months ago.

Well, if this lot are representative of the girls on the patches (and I have no reason to think they aren't), I wanna go into MQ's!!!

Woo hoo great stuff. no you havent fallen on your feet you've got off your bum and made an effort. Fortune favours the prepared.
I never got flowers for my wedding (though that could be cos hubby wasnt in the army at the time lol) but got a big bouquet of flowers hand delviered to the house by the troop commander after baby trees birth and got a £20 mothercare voucher from the mess wahey. They do look after us sometimes lol

Aww thanks all. It's nice to hear good stories. Off to a 'newbie' welcome thing in a minute so I'm trying to get out. We don't have an events co-ordinator here at the minute so it is a tad quiet but I reckon once the kids are back at school there might be a few wine evenings to be enjoyed. And they will be enjoyed believe me! :-)

Same story here Laws. In a 9 month tour I heard from Welfare once to ask me, as I wouldn't be very busy for the next few months, if I'd deliver the newsletter for them. Really?! I have two seriously busy children, a dog and a job to go to!!

In the round, I think it is normal for folk to look after each other. Although I heard not a thing (worth speaking of) from the powers that be, I knew I'd be looked after by the girls if things went tits up. And I was in a different situation to most I suppose with OH not having a Unit he was attached to. Almost nobody here had a clue I was husbandless!
