    Over The Moon

I can't remember the last time I was this happy.

My OH has asked me to move in with him after he has passed out of training. I'm over the moon and so excited. It's not until Jan, but hey!

On a bad note, he's managed to injure himself and is really down in the dumps on the thought of being Medically Discharged. I've got everything crossed that he will be able to complete his training. He'll be crushed if he has to pack it in.

I keep telling him how proud I am of him and other nice things to try and cheer him up a bit.

I'm going to see him on saturday and I'm hoping that will boost his moral a bit.

I don't know what more I can do really, any ideas?

    Re: Over The Moon

Hi MarineGF, congratulations I'm so pleased for you.

From reading your contributions to the forums we can see that you're really in to eachother and you give him so much support, so that is really great news.

I'm sorry to hear about his injury, I know the training is very tough. I think you can take some consolation in the fact that they have probably got some excellent physios and doctors there to help him through it.

I guess it's the same as usual in the way we are used to, keep coming to him with encouragement and appreciation.

All the best for you both, let us know how it goes

    Sebastian

Congrats lady!! This is very exciting news! Dont worry too much about the injury - the army invest a lot in their recruits so will do evrything they can to get him fixed.

    Thank you all.

He's doing ok, it sounds like he is staying as they have shipped him off for a 2 night training exercise in the fields so he must be doing ok! He still has to have physio appt's but it all appears to be good news.

Not long until your OH's are back now?

I bet you cant wait. The revision should keep you busy.

It's 3 sleeps until I get to spend 5 hrs with him wandering around exeter!
Then 21 sleeps until I go to Exeter for the night and see him for most of Saturday and a bit on Sunday (booking a room for this weekend )
Then 13 sleeps until he's back for a weekend. Whoop

    Re: Over The Moon

Thats a shame, I know you must be gutted about that, I'd like to spend every second she's back with her, but realistically that would probably do her head in, but I know how you feel.

There are a couple of leave weekends coming up I think there is one on the 2nd of July so it's not that far off in the overall scheme of things. Nothing like our lovely first five weeks (that still isn't sodding over grrrrr).

Keeping occupied over the summer; maybe you could get away for some weekends with friends (camping and such if that's your cup of tea), get really, really good at your revision subject and smash the granny out of any upcoming exams, copious amount of graft in the gym?
That is sort of what I plan on doing, as well as being a polished marble pillar of support for the OH (I'm getting this letter writing thing down to a T), my loved ones and of course you guys

I love the summer, wish it would last longer (and the sunshine would maintain it's integrity!)

    Cheers

    Re: Over The Moon

A lot of my time will be spent in the pub for the big sporting event

Training for the Half Marathon (not looking forward to that really)

Then relaxing in the pub after the practice run's

Hmmmm Awful lot of pub time there.

I didn't get to see much of my OH when he was back for the weekend. Spent friday night with him, then he went to his mums and had a boys night out, and on sunday he came over to my place for 2 hrs and went on his merry way back to the base

    Hi MarineGF,

I know exactly what it's like to have your OH training to be in the RM's and to injure himself. My OH is due to pass out of Lympstone on the 23rd July as a RMC, although he should have had his passing out day on April 23rd. Unfortunately, he had a traumatic dislocation to his sholder just before Christmas and then was back trooped 3 months.

Ha, you sound just like me with Exeter, I remember the first time I went down - it was just for the day... I spent longer on the train than I did with him but it was so worth it! I was only in Exeter a couple of weeks ago

    Re: Over The Moon

    HI Wife2be,

My chap is just entering his 6th week, so I have a long way to go yet. He hasn't be told he's got to go to Hunter yet but he was limping badly on saturday so I cant see it coming! I don't think He'll be back trooped too far if it happens though.

I was in Exeter on Saturday and I got to see him for around 5 hrs. It was really nice, but saying goodbye on the platform was horrible. I really didn't want to go and I miss him so much. I'm have a pretty crap couple of days at the moment.

I'm going back down to Exeter on 26th and I've booked a B&B so I can at least see him for 2 days! Roll on week 15 when he can come home on weekends. Things will be so much easier then. Luckily we both live only and hours train ride away from Lymptstone.

I bet you cant wait for you man to Pass out? not long now?

Where will he be based afterwards? We're hoping for Taunton!

    Re: Over The Moon

    Hi MarineGF,

I am lost with which week he is on, something like week 27 or 28 or something. He is just starting his Commando Phase this week, so whenever that week is! The least amount he can get back trooped by is 2 weeks as a new troop starts every 2 weeks, so fingers crossed he doesn't. They look after them well in Hunter though, so he won't be in there for long is he does go in!

Awww, I seen my OH at the weekend, and it never gets any easier. You just find a way to deal with it. I hate getting on the train home from Exeter, I was going to move down there at one point before we got engaged. It's so much better when they can come home. It's better to be in your own surrounding's. As far as B&B's go, we have got our little regular B&B that we go to - the woman know's who we are now ha.

No, I can't wait... feels like it's taken forever - it will have been just over a year he will have been there. I can't wait to see him on the Drill Square at his passing out day! I am guessing you have already been to Family's day? Or is that in the next week or so?

Take it you live Bristol way? I think OH's trying to put in for Arbroath or Plymouth. Not sure, I don't mind where I go, so long as I go with him. It could be the other side of the world for all I care!

    xx

    Re: Over The Moon

You right, it certainly doesn't get any easier. I think this time was much harder because we only had a few hours together.

Which B&B do you use? I'm using the Town House, which is 35 a night (for single as he's not allowed to sleep offsite yet grrr)

I didn't get an invite to Families day!!! That was 2 weeks ago, his mum, dad and best mate went. He said he didn't invite me because he didn't want the other lads leering at me. I told him that was an unacceptable reason!!! (I couldn't get the time off work anyway, but that's beside the point!).

I bet you cant wait to see him passout, that will be so exciting. The hard part will be over.

Correct.... I am from Bristol. But like you I am more than willing to move anywhere to be with him.

    Re: Over The Moon

Nah it doesn't - I remember when he first went it was more upsetting... Now I have learnt to deal with it. Doesn't mean it's any easier though!

I shall have to look for you - I am not sure of the name of it. I just know where it is! Where about's is the Town House? The place I stay is on St David's HIll, just up from the Station. I can rememeber that, the different stages with the passes are so annoying. He'll get the Cinderella Pass next, he'll be allowed out until Midnight! Ha. I remember when my OH got that pass and I went down to Exeter and he got a taxi back to Lympstone about 23.30 and then I had the room all to myself... It was so horrible. Only did that once, after that he would come home. Sometimes i'll go down to him but usually, 9/10 times, he'll come home!

Haha, it wasn't that bad when I went. Lads will be lads, but they all have respect for one another. I never had any crude comments made, if anything they were all compliments . It was mad being down there, such a strange feeling being inside Lympstone. It was a nice day.

I know, I am so looking forward to getting there on the 23rd July and then seeing my baby pass out. I am already so proud of him, he was 2 IC in his first troop and has come back after a devastating blow with his shoulder... but I know on his pass out day I will really feel proud of him.

Awww, so sweet hearing someone else say it! I know exactly how you feel though! I know, I am originally from Birmingham, but living just outside of Brum now, so doesn't make a difference where I move too! They'reall far away!

God they'd be sick if they heard us speaking like this hehe.

    Re: Over The Moon

Haha my B&B is on St David's Hill. It's probably the same room. I'm going down on the 26th then I only have to go down 1 more time before he starts coming home. I quite enjoy it down there.

He's getting really excited about getting his cinderella pass. I think he gets that next week. I'm not looking forward to sleeping there on my own, but on the upside I wont have to deal with his snoring. Which has got 10 times worse since he signed up!!!!

I cant wait until pass out, I know it not until Jan (providing he doesn't get back trooped or anything) but it's so exciting. We can start looking for a house together then, when we know where he is going to be based.

He just text me saying he's hurt his injury again today, which is not good news. Another physio appointment tomorrow. It's distroying his moral!

hee hee they would laugh at us. My other half is super soppy but if he read this he'd giggle!

    Re: Over The Moon

The B&B which I used was Oakcliffe Hotel. I love it in Exeter now, it's a lovely part of the country! Aw, when he starts coming home you'll find yourself pacing around the place. A few times he's not been home when we have already planned for it. That comes part and parcel with his training though.

As I said, I have done that once where I slept on my own... it's not that bad! Especially if you're close to the station. It was horrible watching my OH leave, knowing that I was in this hotel room on my own. All I wanted to do was just go home. Once he's phoned you to say that he's got back to camp alright and you get your head down it's not too bad.

Are you two married or not?

Aww, well I hope everything get's sorted for him. When my fella done his shoulder it was a right shock to the system - I thought he was joking when he phoned me to tell me he was on his way back to camp from the hospital. At least he know's he has an injury and can try and play it a bit safe to take some pressure off?

Ha, so would mine. I would get some stick though first and probably called a sap... ha!

    Re: Over The Moon

No we're not married or anything like that. We've only been together for 3 months. He only 2 months of normal 'civvie' life left when I met him.

Oakcliffe is fully booked on the day I'm next going down. I did like the look of that one.

I'll take a DVD or something down with me to keep me occupied whilst he's on camp.

I bet your chaps injury was a complete shock, dislocations can take months to heal. I think mine has some kind of tissue damage in his ankle, it's been hurting for a couple of weeks from over use and not is very painful. He's on no lower body phys at the moment. his arms are getting a good workout and he's looking very yummy and buff
