    the return of OH...

OH has been away for about half a year...but hes coming back in a couple of weeks. Instead of feeling happy I feel like a wreck, nervous, tearful, anxious, worrying about how much I'll get to see him (i don't live near base) and whether he'll want to see me again all the time

surely it shouldn't feel like this!?

It's normal, don't worry! It's amazing how quickly you get used to things. You got used to being together before he went away; I bet you settled into the separation quicker than you expected to as well. Things become 'normal' really easily. The husband-thing's been away for 5 months, he came back for RnR a couple of weeks ago and it was weird having him there. The kids and I felt as though things had got back to normal when he went back!!

So, I reckon once he's back you'll settle straight into your usual relationship no problem. Don't worry about worrying!!

cameragirl, you've basically just said exactly what I feel like at the moment. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed now that once he's back things will soon settle down. I think the anticipation is the worst part for me, not helped by the fact that I am a natural worrier who will have gone through every worst case scenario in my head by the time he actually gets back to the UK.

I think if this is the first time you've been through this then it's natural to feel anxious just because you don't know what to expect. That's what I keep telling myself anyway!

I think what makes it worse is that everyone's saying oooh! you must be really excited, when actually it's quite stressful, and then they ask me if I'm having second thoughts. I guess I've moved jobs and moved house since he's been gone so it'll be strange for him too but it's still quite scary - like the prospect of a first date scary to see him again

I've been shacked up with Mr B for what seems like forever and I still feel a bit anxious when he comes home. He came back on RnR this time looking like a new bloke. I hadn't changed a bit and was still the lumpy auld bird he left behind! I'd pity him if I could rustle up the energy.

Aww thanks guys! I feel a bit calmer now, I think my biggest worry is not living up to his expectations when he gets back but I am rectifying this with lots of lovely pampering in the run-up....and making sure I have some nice new pants at least

    Re: the return of OH...

I remember when OH came back on RnR the first time - we werent together that long back then l had been strangely calm about him coming back - he rang to say he was home and get my arse up to him and instead of putting my foot down and making a usual 20 min journey 10 mins l pootled up the motorway so slowly, and when l got to his l drove around the block a few times not wanting to go in l was so nervous! Seems so so long ago now!

Now mind you after hes been gone for any length of time he kinda just slips into the house and we barely notice him coming in - its like OH your home and your kit is all over the kitchen floor great!

I STILL feel nervous and fluttery when my hubby comes home. It's like falling in love all over again! He says he feels the same way, too, particularly if he's been away for some time.

You're right, it'll be very strange and emotional for him as he slides between the sheets then turns to find a balding fifty-three year old bricklayer called Harry.
Unless you are a balding fifty-three year old bricklayer called Harry.

Make sure he can find your new address !
