    Re: Kenya

danielled my hubby went to Kenya November and phone signal was rubbish. He had none for weeks on end and when he did call (from a Kenyan sim card) it cost him a fortune. It was actually a hard exercise for us because I had the gender scan for our baby whilst he was away and couldn't get hold of him to tell him for a week (that was the only time I cried!). He said that he had to walk up a rather large hill to get any signal just to find out we were having a girl!

It is lovely when hot out there - but no so great when it rains apparently.

    Re: Kenya

My pet boy was over there 12 months ago - phone signal is pretty much nil, he managed to get a Kenyan sim and I had a few texts (but he also hates making phone calls) they don't get much internet access either so I had a few emails/abusive fb messages (yup hes a gem is my pet), and a couple of blueys - couldnt get to the post office either apparently.

But you can send unlimited free eblueys.......do not whatever you do take advantage of that to send hundreds......

As for the ex itself, depends what he's doing out there mine said it was hot and boring, but the adventure training bit at the end was good fun.
Heaven wont have me, hell is scared I'll take over. Time for the pub!

On the move this weekend. Not sure yet where I'm going or when I'll get there.....hope theres enough vodka in the car.

    Re: Kenya

I had a call yesterday it took him an hour to actually get through properly due to the signal. Seems to be better if he calls at about 8pm our time as the line seems to be better, as with my oh he is rubbish with internet and cant use face book as he is a caveman !!!
He says the ex is boring and very hot and cant wait to get to the part where they go to the hotel! Sent one ebluey asking him to get in touch with his mum as she is ringing me everyday!
Thanks for your help, hope your lovely boy is no longer sending abusive fb messages

Hmmm, our CO told us not to send eblueys as they have no facility to print them out. If I'd have known they had the facility I would have uploaded a scan pic of our gorgeous daughter Ah well, she's here in the flesh now.

I think there is a printer but it's unreliable due to the internet connection, mine got the same info but was told when he got there that it was worth a try.

As for the fb abuse, it continues but he gets as good as he gives.

    Hi
My OH was out there Jan to March and we managed to keep in touch really well. He got a Kenyan sim and we texted most days and spoke a few times a week. I was chuffed to bits with that! Only spoke for a few minutes at a time but it was enough to bend his ear about wedding crap

I picked my OH up from the airport and on the way home we got some bread and bacon - I've never seen a smile so wide (at least not in relation to food )

    Re: Kenya

If he's ok with you collecting him, you need your passport, his flight number, full name and service number...

I'm assuming I'm not breaching any security by telling you as it's quite easy to collect him as long as you have your ID. If you don't, you won't get in. The first time I collected my OH from the airport was after a tour of sandy place, I'd only known him six weeks and five of those he'd been away!

I had to get trains, buses to get there, and when I did, OMG, talk about a rabbit in headlights! 8O

    Re: Kenya

I don't know how it works for you but his was a civvy flight and I just had to go and pick him up in the cargo section!! Took a lot of asking about and talking to airport staff but they were really helpful. The blokes got off the coaches going "how come your missus got the RV point before we did ... can she tell my missus how to get here?". Clearly I am very clever! Was a very long morning I can tell you.

To be honest I'd have picked him up from camp but we live oop north and the airport was nearer.

Neither was my OH, so if you want to pick him up from the airport, you can but I'd ask him first!
