I got a major gripe that needs airing! OH is at BATUS, his crazy ex told all his friends, my friends and indeed his family shes just aborted his unborn child.... except he's been out of the country since well before she claims to have got pregnant so is clearly just psycho and lying. GRRRRRRR

Today i would like to rant about Mr Bossy ( he's always worthy of a rant)

My gas hob was looking decidedly tired of life and rather than replace the whole hob / oven, which are separates built into the units, Mr Bossy bought a new hob top and enlisted the help of his friend with the fitting.
All went pearshaped from the moment i caught the sight of them heaving the oven out onto the kitchen floor! Then there was the sounds of 'dunno mate' and other worrying expressions.
Sticking my head round the kitchen door i asked a perfectly rational question of ' did you turn the gas off?' which was met by a funny look and sighs ( well i didn't want to explode when i lit a fag up!! )
leaving them to it, i returned to the relative safety of the next street, well ok it was the lounge, but i did consider it. Then i heard sounds like 'ffs', 'ow' and 'now what' and other things that baffled men say.
Popping my head back round the door i saw...2 blokes stood there gazing at the hob with a slightly confused look on their faces and my oven still parked in the middle of the kitchen! It went similar to...
Mr Bossy ' can't do it luv!'
    Bossy ' um y?'
    Mr Bossy 'dont fit'
Bossy ' huh? its the same size as the one you just wrenched out with a sledgehammer!'
Mr Bossy ' i know, but the fittings are different'
    Bossy ' eh?'
Mr Bossy ' the fittings are too short, needs a length of pipe'
Bossy ' theres a hosepipe outside, can't you cut a bit off that?'
Mr Bossy and his mate ' NO'
I can't repeat what else they said ops:
However the upshot of it is, all the weekend my oven has been parked in the middle of the kitchen and my hob is useless.
Mr Bossys dad who is a gas fitter came round and said ' need to order parts luv, i'll come back on weds'
    Lesson learned no 623 ...
Never ever trust your fella when he says..' i can do that, no problem!

Re: Need a place to moan but don't need a reply? Fill y

I'm broke. And its getting me down.

I have just under £100 to last me until the end of September.

I have to pay my rent (£400) as well. This was going to come out of my savings book except the bank are in the process of replacing it so I can't withdraw anything yet until the new one arrives - I've been waiting 2 weeks already...

I have been working in August except the way the HR/payroll cut off dates work I don't get paid until the end of September. Really miffed about this.

Don't know what I'm going to do - my parents have said they'll help me out to pay my tv licence and bills this month but I really don't like to accept their help as they have enough problems of their own to be getting on with.

I'm just banking (excuse the cr@p pun) on the fact that my bank book arrives before my rent is due, if not I really will be up sh!t creek with no paddle. I wouldn't be in this situation if I had got paid this month, I can't believe companies are allowed to operate this way. I just feel like they are sitting on my money, especially as I have to pay to travel on the tube to work and they don't pay me for that.

Is it actually possible to survive on £20/week? I think I'm going to find out.

I was in exactly the same boat until I got paid yesterday. I so hate having no money and actually had to resort to returning things to the shops (even if I had worn them a bit!) and turning down seeing my friends. I was so miserable. My friend (who earns 6 figures!) has never quite grasped the fact that I earn a quarter of what she does, and when we go out she insists on paying halves. She says if I can't afford it I shouldn't go out with her. But she's still my mate and I want to see her, but she shouldn't make me feel so guilty if I can't just sign off a £100 restaurant bill as easily as she can. It's like some army-related motto thingy where you should only go the spead of the slowest person in the group.

Anyway, I've had to turn down a weekend away (which would have been really fun) due to lack of funds and had to return a beautiful (£120) corset which I bought cos the OH loves me in them. We're going away this weekend and I wanted to surprise him. Now he's just going to have to put up with me in my Bridget Jones granny-basher pants!! S*xy minx that I am!!

p.s. I think work should pay for our travel expenses to and from. We don't want to be there so shouldn't have to pay for the "priviledge". If our employees want us in the office they should pay for us to get there dagnamit. £1000+ a year wasted for 10 hours a week stuck on the disgusting, smelly tube. Think how many pairs of shoes that could buy!

But that's a horrible attitude for your friend to have! Surely you could agree to go somewhere less expensive so that when you get your bill it won't come to that much.

I'm in a permanant state of brokeness, I can never save any money, I'm still paying off bills from months ago.

I quite agree - either go for a "Two for the price of one" at Wetherspoons or offer to cook her a meal at home - a true friend would understand the disparity in your income and make allowances! 8O

I'm glad its not just me who feels so low about being broke. The thing is I'm normally very careful with my money and don't normally have to go through this - I just completely forgot I wouldn't be paid until end of Sept for work I have done in August.

Just knowing I'm not alone has helped - if the bank book turns up, my problems go away and the pressure is eased slightly for this month. I will still have very little money but I will be able to pay my rent/bills etc.

Think your friend is being quite unfair on you, either that or she is trying to rub your nose in it. Bear in mind things aren't always as they seem...some friends of my family have a new car every 6 months, 2 horses and at least 2 holidays every year - their salaries are good but not that good enough to support that lifestyle...consequently they put the holidays on their credit cards and then have to take out a loan to pay for it, which they then complain about. Mention the idea that maybe they don't have to go on holiday at all and they look at you like you have come from Mars! As a family, I know we prefer not to be in debt even if that means not having the latest, flashest car or taking huge extravagant holidays.

Sorry gone a bit off topic there, hope you can kind of see my point!

Totally understand, I got a loan recently to clear off a load of bills, it's actually cut the amount I pay in half which is really helpful despite the drawbacks of loans.

I'll be pretty broke till Christmas, I'm hoping to get a bit of cash for my 21st (any family members who have set up trust funds for me can give me them now thankyouplease - well... I know that's unlikely!). But yes, I wish i'd have lived with my parents for a bit longer, I adore my freedom though!

I've never had a credit card as I believe I shouldn't spend what I don't pysically have sitting in my bank account. If I spent over my limit then I wouldn't miraculously be any richer the following month and be able to pay it off. I know it would just escalate, so I'm never getting a credit card! I also hate being in debt and I know when I start seeing negative numbers on my bank statements that I really need to cut back and start taking stock. I'm sure 90% of my money goes on booze or shoes!!

Know exactly what you are saying - I have a credit card but it is only for dire emergencies...I got it for when I was abroad so that if I needed to get back to the UK quick I would have the funds to pay for the ultra expensive last minute flights.
I also don't like seeing more negatives than pay-ins on my statement...as such I have never yet been overdrawn...I know I could go over to see me thorugh this month but I would find it really difficult to cope with!!

Have to admit im bad for living in my overdraft, but generally have enough in the savings account to cover at least 3/4 of it so dont feel too bad (still using my student overdraft as its interest free till the end of next month) but hate being in debt, got my letter from the Student Loans Co today wanted to cry, i ran up that much debt and didnt even get passed the 2nd year of what was meant to be a 4 year course. Already organised to start paying it back even though i dont earn enough yet that i 'have' to.
Heaven wont have me, hell is scared I'll take over. Time for the pub!

On the move this weekend. Not sure yet where I'm going or when I'll get there.....hope theres enough vodka in the car.

Taking my life in my hands .........

    Shoes.

Why do women need so many pairs of shoes?

At the last count, Mrs T had over 60 pairs.

On our first date, I picked her up from her house and, under cover of a quick visit to the bathroom did the usual checks on first contact. There were about 20 pairs of shoes; acceptable, not extreme.

When she moved in 12 months later, the shoe collection had magically doubled, and another 20 brace have been added since we were married a couple of years ago.

I have 16 pairs of shoes:

    2 pairs trainers for running.

    2 pairs black work shoes.

    1 pair casual black shoes.

    1 pair casual brown shoes.

    1 pair wellingtons.

    1 pair work boots.

1 pair each of black & brown Blundies.

    1 pair brown work shoes.

    3 pairs BCH.

    1 pair SD shoes.

    1 pair mess wellies.

This is perfectly adequate, and if I didn't need the army stuff, I could reduce the total by 5 pairs, so why do women need so many?

    T

PS Poppy & Gilly, you are allowed as many pairs of FMBs as you like
