    Smart dress

    Hi there

My son will be passing out soon, and the invite for the passing out parade says Dress-Smart. Am I right in thinking this means basically, dress, smart jacket, nice shoes and a hat/ fascinator? Just want to get it right and I don't have any other army family to ask! It's the end of phase 2 btw.

    Cheers

    Sadie x

Thats certainly how I'd read it, although from seeing the outfits of some at assorted passing out parades other people read it very differently!
Heaven wont have me, hell is scared I'll take over. Time for the pub!

On the move this weekend. Not sure yet where I'm going or when I'll get there.....hope theres enough vodka in the car.

My husband used to work at an ATC and I went to a few. It does mean dress, jacket, and smart shoes. No real need for a hat or fascinator unless you want to wear one.

You will be shocked by what people wear!

Hi, I always like to think... the same type of attire you would wear to a wedding (providing you're not the bride/groom/mother of the bride). Depends on the weather as well... go prepared for the worst, and hopefully you'll get a nice surprise. :0

    Have a fabulous day.

yup, agree with this. Went to a couple of passing out parades of friends and there were a couple of 'seated folk' that look like they were going to be paid for their services, that evening

Thanks everybody, that's brilliant. I'm fairly conservative in my style so hopefully won't get offered money for my services lol! On the other hand, it might be useful, have you seen the price of hats!?! Thanks for good wishes too x Sadie

Hi sadie my son passes out of catterick on 30th September, and I'm worried about dress too, I've got smart trousers and a nice blouse, posh shoes and a coat to match just in case, I felt the same as you didn't want to let him down, but I've told him what I've got and he's ok wit it all so that's all that matters to me. I'm not wearing anything on my head because to be honest I look like a smurf in hats lol, and I had a chuckle at the comment about 'ladies on the job' too, the worse thing is I'll be looking for them now!!
