    Renewing vows?

My dear Mummy & Daddy will celebrate 60 years of marriage in 2013, I'd really love for them to renew their vows in the church they were wed in.
My brothers aren't bothered and I've not going to tell my useless sister yet, she'll want it to be all about her!!
Does it appear a wee bit twee to anyone? I'm going to contact the church they were wed in and take it from there, its the Catholic church so I'll probably get burnt to a crisp!!!

My parents renewed at 25 years and Pa gave her a very old Russian wedding ring which she wears on one of her baby fingers. My parents aren't the "twee" sort so I think you're pretty safe.

Matron and I had a blessing - which is much the same. It was around our 5th Anniversary, and we combined the service with the wee boy's christening - when he was 4.

It was lovely, and will hold a special place in our memories.

My parents renewed at 25 years in our local Catholic Church in front of close family and friends - they originally got wed in Burma so renewing in the original Church was never going to be an option, and they did it again last year for 50 years but they did this privately just for the two of them. I think it's a lovely idea and I'm sure they will love it too.

Few problems to overcome first, Priest isn't keen as they don't attend church and also the children from the marriage haven't been brought up in the Catholic Church.

It's a work in progress at the mo'.

My Nan and Grandad have just celebrated there 60th Wedding Anniversary. They put on a doo with close family and friends. It cost a small arm and leg for us to travel there and back for 4 days but it was definitely worth going for.

Boots could you not if your fabulous plan fails get them into a lovely registry office and possibly hold the doo afterwards near the church? I know this is not what you have in mind but it could work
People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on there behalf
