    Praise Where It's Due

Two days ago, outside the house of the Dragons, cameth lots of men from Veolia Water, who proceedeth to digeth up the road. The Dragons, being old and wise creatures, had no fear of this developement, twas nothing new to know bugger all about what was happening to your home or street.

About the time that the knights of Veolia were leaving in their white steeds, (apparently all sired from the same Stallion called Mercedes), a loud noise, which resembled a pretty pissed off snake was heard in the Dragons kitchen cupboards.

This snake hissed and hissed and did not stop, even when the tired Dragons went to bed. All night it hissed, and in the morning it was still pissing hissing... but low, there was no sign of the snake, or the cause of the noise. All cupboards were dry and no odour of North Sea Fish Farts (commonly known as North Sea Gas) to explain this loud hissing sound.

Day three arrived, and Mr Dragon, now getting a little concerned, emptied out the cupboard at last to remove the snake... to find no snake, and no water.. just a loud noise getting louder the further back in the cupboard he went.

Pushing out the back of the cupboard Mr Dragon discovered a wonderful surprise. The Dragons it seemed, had their very own indoor water feature with a spray of water coming up from under the ground, and going back into the foundations.... all it needed was some lights and it would have made a TV makeover program green with envy.

So a call to MHS, and out comes a Sir Knight of the Emergency Callouts. A charming chap, who looked very worried when he had to tell the Dragons that he had to turn the water off to the property at 5pm on a Friday. Mrs Dragon laughed, she'd been here before, and was used to the MHS chap saying.. 'I'll make it safe for the emergency, leave you with no water, and be back June 24th (6 months time) without mentioning the year in question.

No this time Gallant knight, makes calls, apologises (it's not his fault) and arranges for a hotel to be authorised, and a team of plumbers to come out at 7am on Saturday morning to start a two day job, of demolishing the Dragons kitchen, pulling out the units, digging up the concrete floor, digging down 18" and then relaying a mains pipe from the main street outside to the stopcock. Yes, that is right oh valiant readers.. they are working ALL WEEKEND!.

I had phone calls from MHS and the Helpdesk (without asking for them) informing me what was going to happen, who to contact if we needed anything, and generally being polite, efficient and helpful.

Ok, I grant you, we haven't had the workmen in yet, but so far, I have been shocked, amazed and rendered speechless at the efficiency and level of customer service received in the last few hours. Praise where it's due MHS, you've pulled a blinder so far!

I will report back with further developments tomorrow.... the question is... has the Dragons fire been quenched by this leak? will Mrs Dragon have to finally admit, that for the first time since they took over, that MHS finally got it right? - I'm not counting my chickens just yet, and I somehow suspect that I may still be having my kitchen rebuilt after this in July, but hey, for the time being I'm optimistic.

Update: Builders arrived at 7am (I think I was awake), and have attempted to drill down without taking the cupboards out.. they have made no mess, and have just paused at 9am to go to Camberley to get some plumbing bits they need... They won't even let me make them a cuppa....

Something has to go wrong soon, in 32 years I've never known such a big operation go so smoothly......

09.53am - the boys are back, having done an 18 mile round trip to Camberley... clearly no skiving off for these two... I've decided, I must really be in bed still, and dreaming this, cos it's just not possible for anything to go so smoothly.

FPD - this thread is hilarious. I bet you are waiting for Nick Knowles and Billy the Spark to appear.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the hero's of the day are Allday Builders. The time is 10.48am, they have fixed the leak, put my kitchen back together and left me nothing more than a bit of wiping out of cupboards which in fairness needed doing before they arrived, I was just too bone idle.

I did say to them, that I suspected they didn't normally work for the MOD, but what a result...... 3.3 hours to complete what was yesterday being described as two days minimum of severe work. it was that bad that hotel accommodation had been authorised, we just declined it.

Ladies and Gentlemen... the system can work!!!!! and for once I won't be complaining to MHS, but sending them a very large box of choccies...... FANTASTIC...... I've already got the washing machine on, and the dishwasher loading.... yeeee haaaay

And there I was thinking, when you came round last night to download the latest plumbing disaster, looking forward to having a house full of lovely dragons for the duration. I'm almost disappointed that for once MHS pulled it out of the bag!x
