Bliars Blood Money, or a Wonderfully Caring Contribution?

    http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/abou...ured-personnel

I'm never sure when people are buying there peace of mind or not.

I had the pleasure *shudders* of working in Downing Street when the whole should we, should we not go to war was happening, the atmosphere was tense, voices raised a lot and people began ignoring each other blatently!

This has stopped me in my tracks.

It's a drop in the ocean of the Bliars purse, their combined income hits that and more every year, and is set to increase. I wonder if it's a stunt, all be it one good people will profit from, to sell a book and justify a guilt.

Anyone else have feelings about it?

Re: Bliars Blood Money, or a Wonderfully Caring Contribution

I was listening to a debate on the radio about this earlier today (which I switched off as people were talking over each other and being rude, surprise surprise).

I think it's a fantastic way for money to go to the right place - and is a way for Bliar to feel appeased at the blood he has on his hands.

If he really probably didn't want to go to war and was "pushed" into it (that's my nice personal thoughts) and this is his way of making up for it, then that's one thing; it doesn't excuse him for having no spine, if indeed that is what happened, and having our troops sent out to back up the Americans.

They always say "never look a gift horse in the mouth" - and if he wanted to make such a contribution, I'd have more respect if he did it anonymously - why does he need the public to acknowledge he's "making such a caring contribution" if it is indeed a charitable donation? He shouldn't want the kudos.

Hm. I think I've talked myself round to what I think: he's an opportunistic, self-involved little .... trying to make himself feel better for getting us all into the mess in the first place.

I am very much of the same opinion as the serviceman radio one interviewed yesterday. He couldn't care less what the resons behind the donation were as far as he is concerned the legion can really use that money to make a difference.
I really don't have an opinion on it. Some might say i'm sitting on the fence or being a sheep but as far as i am concerned what's done is done. The rights and wrongs dont bring back the people who died or suddenly cure those who were injured. God knows how much money to help them will go some way to helping those who were injured.
The only thing i will say on it is that i seriously hope all this debate continues as publically as possible. Becasue no matter what side of the fence you fall on all publicity is good publicity and the more people buy that book the more money the British Legion will get!

My personal opinion is that Blair took us into a war on a lie ...... and he knew it was a lie. Obviously I can't prove it and I doubt it ever will be. So yes, I think it's blood money and he's trying to ease his conscience.

That said do I give a flying f**k for him? No, I feel for the families who lost loved ones or have had their lives changed by their injuries. The money will help so many people and that is only ever a good thing. Let's hope a lot more of his cronies get an attack of the guilts so the coffers are swelled even more.

Blood money and a drop in the ocean that is the mess he made. If he is trying to ease his conscience I hope it doesn't work. Cnut.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok. They know me here.

I love the whole Bliar thing the countrys got going on. Clearly another overpaid ass hoole trying to buy his way out of things. People with money will never realise that money doesn't make everything ok.

No matter how much he donates he will never bring those 300+ service men & women back & will never be able to buy the ill service men & woman their normal lives back.

    Typical Grade A cnut !

Whether he is trying to ease his conscience or not - at the end of the day he's donated a very large amount of money to a bloody good cause. I don't agree with his reasons for going to war in Iraq, but I agree that Saddam Hussein needed taking down.
I can't stand the man, and don't think any better of him for his donation, but he didn't have to do it. He could have kept all that money for himself.
