Re: The Nimbys of Ashtead - SSAFA WIN!

It was an honour to attend the street walking today, most of the locals I spoke to either knew of Headley Court as the rehab centre or when it was a RAF station, I would like to pass my thanks to Royal Anglian Mum for highlighting this issue in the first place without her post we would not known about it. A VERY BIG THANKYOU Royal Anglian Mum. It was also good to put faces to names. And a great result for SSAFA.

On walking back to the car I was speaking to Mr Jelly from SSAFA (the SSAFA spokesman at the meeting) and he wants to me to thank everyone involved in the campain for our support and to all your friends, family etc that you Emailed to highlight the Headley Court issue.

I would like to say it was an honour to meet Capt Pete Norton GC in the pub and to buy you a pint. You are an ambassador for SSAFA

You were grinning like a loon from 17:00 onwards, or was that the result of driving too fast with the top of the car retracted?

Brilliant news. I had so many people I didn't know (after it had been forwarded on by friends etc) email me telling me they were adding their names to the petition, it was really quite inspiring. Anyway well done!!

Yes Sluggy, for the whole meeting.

If you look very carefully at the archived webcam from the meeting here you may just catch a glimpse.

If you want to watch the meeting more to see what was said, and less to see my tiny todger, then it gets started about 20 minutes in and lasts about an hour.

It was a bit dusty, especially up on the gallery, as I kept getting something in my eye when Sue Norton spoke.

Some of the Councillors gave excellent speeches, mainly the ladies. One or two were a bit less effulsive in their praise, and a few bits that IMHO were inaccurate were said, but there is no right of challenge to them except from the floor, not from us monkeys in the gallery.

    Anyway, SSAFA won 17-0. Result!
