You'll need to see him off from Paderborn Camp I should imagine. Someone will come along and correct me if I am wrong, but normally you have to see them off at the coach that is taking them to the airport than actually the airport. Although Paderborn has an Airport so I am not 100% sure how that will work.

Hi. My OH is going from Paderborn to Afghan too and there may be an opportunity for a weekend over there before he goes. You can get flights to Paderborn from Manchester and Standsted (one of the London airports, think its that one if I remember right). The other option is to fly to Hanover and hire a car, it's about an hr and a half drive. Hope that helps!

Sorry mis-read the question, thought you were asking how you can get to Paderborn!

Should this really be on an open forum???

As long as it stays general I don't see a major problem -after all we all know in the UK flights are mainly from Brize etc -but can we leave any specifics like dates out please ladies.

Heaven wont have me, hell is scared I'll take over. Time for the pub!
On the move this weekend. Not sure yet where I'm going or when I'll get there.....hope theres enough vodka in the car.
Does he know you're thinking of seeing him off? It seems a bit odd that you would ask here rather than just ask him what the procedure is. You won't be able to surprise him by turning up at the airport anyway, as Gonzo says the goodbyes will usually be on camp.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok. They know me here.
I waved my hubby off from the camp - they generally all go together on a bus, and return the same way. I don't think any of the families went to the airport with them.
Can anyone tell me what can be sent to Afgan as treats/pressies?
A list of what not to send can be found on the BFPO site Ministry of Defence | Defence For... | The Service Community | BFPO | Mail Prohibitions and Restrictions
I'm planning to send my OH all his favourites like sweets, nuts, crisps, magazines etc, things that dont melt! I always look out for things when I'm out shopping, just things that will keep him occupied or make him laugh. And of course lots of letters and photos.

Evenin' all!
Have a look at this thread (and the linky in it) for tippity top ideas to send.
help...what do i send?
Another problem with surprise trips to the airport is dates occasionally slide, so could work out expensive to stand at the airport and see were your son will fly from in 3 days time!
