    Colchester

    Hi all,

We are supposed to be moving to Colchester as out 1st posting - shortly as hubby almost finished ph2 trg, we have no idea about applying for Qtr - his ph2 arent much help with this, I will need to look for work soon too, hand my notice in at get excited about moving to a new area, I've heard so many different things about Colchester, although I'm taking it as a pinch of salt....great shopping....i'll be OK then lol!!

I've heard that there is a garrison saddle club too? is this still going?

Hubby will need to contact welfare to arrange a qtr (you know fill in 10 million forms) and they will go from there when he has his posting order.

Can't tell you about Colly, we never go there I'm afraid.

Coli is fab, very used to army. In fact most of it used to be owned by Mod. Not sure if saddle club is still going, but I imagine so. Nice pubs, nice shops, few night clubs still, and not far from loads of nice wee villages with nice wee pubs if your into a bit drive about. If you like history theres the castle and loads of roman stuff, the woods, Merse is near for beach so is Clacton, and a quick jaunt into London for high life.

Sometimes getting jobs etc can be a pain in hoop as once they know your army they kind of figure you won't be there long.

Thanks AuntyLOL...I cant wait either way it's a new place i havent been to, looking forward to visiting Lakeside more I think LOL...gotta buy new things for MQ, I am hoping to get my own horse again early next year so hope there will be nice stables close by, I love going for drives...although current car is a juicy lucy.

Strange question coming......but what are the roads like? I did say it was a strange question...honest i'mnot a total loon..ha ha just my car has very stiff suspension and i have to go literally snail pace if bad roads and bumps..lol...

Are the size of Qtr's good? I have no idea what to expect, am trying to get some stuff together ready but without really knowing I cant do much, wont be getting any goods until I'm there!

    xx

Horah at last something is kinda happening...I spoke to HIC this afternoon about getting our qtr, teh form will be sent to my folks add as thats where I am at mo, then we will know where we are given then they say a possible 22days thereafter, so I am currently looking at roughly 2nd/3rd week of Sept to move horah!!!!
I cannot wait to hand my notice in at work, am already searching and putting feelers out for a new one up there..
Saddle club is still going, so I shall be signing up to that although will feel odd riding other horses after having my own...oh well fun to be had!

So if anyone is in Colly and fancy meeting up for a glass or two give me a shout...PM of course!!

Can anyone advise on what the qtr's are like in Cottonwood close?
We have just been given our moving in date and I must say I am some what shocked how quickly it has come through and the date is very very soon, so guess I shall be packing like mad now.....

mum has already got excited bout me going again, and she's hurrying me up to pack, trying to get it done for me....grrrrr i hate that, I can manage things myself. thanks anyways...

I've tried googling it and would you believe it's the only road that hasn't been googled.
