When is the parade ? The female officers will be wearing skirts, are you worried you won't be able to handle the draught in a dress or skirt ?
I imagine trouser suits are considered acceptable these days, but remember it's his day not yours and he'll be the one getting his attire checked.
While you don't need a hat many mothers do tend to wear them.
If you do go for one of the former remember to wear warm and/or longish undies, just not made of borassic lint.![]()
The parade is in April. Don't want to embarrass him, but don't want to be freezing cold in a summer outfit! Will have to start looking for the hat then! Thank you.
Why not edge your bets and stick a skirt and tights in the boot of the car, that way if you feel under dressed you can nip to the loo and change sharpish!
Stuc's right, lots of standing around in the cold so think warm knickers! (and comfortable shoes)
Hat's are always good, but not 'Mother of the Bride' hats, don't upstage the dignitaries lady on the day. I'm a great fan of the old less is more, so if you think you can pull it off why not go for a small hair ornament instead?
Saves forking out a fortune on a hat for only one day! Or ask friends if they have anything they wore last year to any weddings?
Avoid patterns as well, I've seen a few crackers in my time, the large mauve flower print dress and lilac jacket combo still makes me shudder!

thanks for the tips. i am going to see how the suit looks on. it is very elegant and i could get away with nice boots if it is mucky weather.
