MPGS
Does anyone know about this?
Hubby is in the Army and has been for near on 10 years but he is been coming home feeling depressed and downtrodden. We are in Germany and he has been trying to get a posting back to the UK without success.
He hates it out here and desperately wishes to be back in the UK.
THe other day he came home from work saying that he was done, and that he was handing in his termination once he had done some research on MPGS which he eventually got round to last night.
I understand that he will take a substantial drop in wages for this move but to save his sanity then it seems like the logical move ... doesn't it?
Has anyone been in this situation or can offer any words of advice?

Re: MPGS
I've found some info about the Military Provost Guard Service:
http://www.army.mod.uk/agc/provost/1238.aspx
and some threads on Arrse:

Hopefully someone else will reply who has experience of it.

Re: MPGS
My husband was going to do this. He'd been out of his regiment for a year, and he hadn't been working for a few months (he'd started working in construction). So, he decided to join the MPGS. He had applied and was waiting for three months before he decided to withdraw it and start over again on rejoining his old regiment. He'd finally decided that it'd be really boring, as it'd be just like standing guard at camp....but all the time.
He'd still get all the benefits of being in the forces (MQs, steady job, promotion, etc.). He'd only have to serve one year, and then if he wanted out, he would only have to give two or three months' notice. I don't think it's that bad of a deal at all, especially in the current financial climate. For my husband, in the end, he decided it was better to go back to his old regiment.
Hope that helps a bit!
