Can i just say thank you to the ladies (and gentlemen) who have wrote messages of support as a result of the comments made by " legs-behind-ears"and his many alias's, the so-called "SNCO!!!!" Im appalled that someone of his status can cause so much venum between people who are living and breathing the same lifestyle as him and its hard to believe that his "minnions" have to rely on someone like him when the going gets tough...

Tidworth, whats wrong with Tidworth? Home is what you make it...and "legs-behind-ears" if you think the best thing about Tidworth is the road out of it...l suggest you get on it. I completly understand why your wife has chosen to live off the patch, surely living with you 24/7 must be shire hell. She sounds a sensible woman, all those years of convant schooling have paid off....

My husband has been in the army for 19 years and intends doing another 8 so for me the up-heval of moving to Tidworth will be well worth it because some of us love our husbands enough to make sacrifices to be with them whenever possible, thats why l am giving up my already brought and paid for 4 bed house.

I do hope to see you at a mess do, but im positive that is not going to happen, you dont know my husband and your not in his regiment...... unless your good at multi-tasking, but as an SNCO im sure your not. The whole of My husbands regiment are away on exercise at the moment and dont have access to internet.

I think you may need a check up at your doctors (its free for you) l think you may have a mental health issues!!

When I read this thread, I thought "Oh my goodness". I am glad, Cerys, that you have stood up for yourself. I also hope that you do not believe this to be the norm because, quite frankly, it is the opposite of the norm on this forum.

I, too, recently joined this "community" due to my marriage to a serving soldier based in Germany. He too has been in the army a substantial time, and I too have a child from a failed first marriage. We are currently trying for one ourselves. I have completely changed my life for this man, renting out my property, quitting my job and also bringing my son to europe to live. I too didn't think twice about it because I love my husband. I don't want to be in another area code unless he is sent away for exercise or to sunnier climates and completely understand your predicament.

All I wanted to say was that there are people in your position that make the same decisions for the same if not similar reasons, and fbe should be respectful of that.

FBE, my father was Army and my mother went everywhere with him until I was 5 when she moved back to the UK so I could be educated in a UK school. She regretted every minute of it because my education was not that good, I missed my dad, and she missed her husband. Not everyone suits that kind of separation.

For someone who is supposedly in a position of authority I find you rude and unhelpful. If I was your superior I would find you an embarrassment to the armed forces. However I suspect that you are just some random who like's to pretend they are something they are not hiding behind a computor screen. I think you should step away from the laptop and seek help.

I'm really not interested if you're a bitter pad wife, the CGS or a shopgirl from Swindon. Personally I don't want the benefits of the army, it's something that my husband and my brother choose to do. I earn more than my husband and I'm very successful in a very secure job working for the public sector so I don't need the cheap house (I already own one), I pay for private dental care (we don't get it free in the army) and I wouldn't want to be treated like a wingeing civvy. (Because I don't winge). I'm perfectly happy thanks. To be honest I don't think that the freebie add ons are that great, whatever they are.

Most of the women on this forum would probably be in a better financial position if they went off and married a civvy (I know plenty of men - and women - at work who earn more than officers). But they married their husbands because they love them and want to be with them.

I think you're very bitter, very unhappy and obviously have the world's biggest chip on your shoulder.

And, if you really are a man, as you claim you are, then you're clearly a misogynist. I doubt you need to look it up, it's got your picture sitting next to it in the dictionary.

I live in Tidworth, and work behind the bar in the legion (if you come in any of you nice people on this thread feel free to introduce yourself I am the blonde (yes I've dyed my hair again so don't look like the pics on here anymore) gobby one with the really loud laugh) anyways, Tidworth is not such a bad place, I have lived in worse places.

Unfortunately there always will be people like FBE at every posting you go on, you just have to steer clear and treat them with the contempt they deserve. You will meet nice people and make good friends that last a lifetime.

Just as an add on, there may well be a large number of empty houses in Tidders and surrounding areas, but due to a large regimental move out and another one in this summer, most of these will have been allocated and are awaiting their new occupants.

believe it or not i had a really nice evening in The Ramin Tidders not so long back Started there then to The Mayfly in Stockbridge for dinner and back to The Ram for last orders! The only sticky bit was when my OH's terribly well spoken friend, upon seeing a rather large but i must say beautifully dressed lady approaching (think black with subtle sequin enhancements, very classy looking) said loudly to us over the music....." I say.... Jabba the Hutt is alive and living in Tidworth"......JUUUUUUUUST as the music died!!!!
