    Really GOOD customer service

Just to balance out my other thread...

    These guys are FANTASTIC

    www.glassesdirect.co.uk

Decided to order a pair of presciption sunglasses. Couldn't remember my prescription so just guessed at it (d'oh!!)

Of course, got it wrong. Even though they have a no quibble refund policy, I didn't expect a full refund. One was in my account 24 hrs after they got the glasses back anyway.

Absolutely great company, would highly recommend them.

Anyone else had really great service lately?

After my rant this morning about letting agents I have to say they've been fantastic today ops: Sorted everything out and apologised.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok. They know me here.

My family solicitor. He has changed practises since I first used him and I emailed him the other day, straight on the ball. Lovely lovely bloke. Sadly we are now more like friends than Solicitor and Client.

Having spent my last employment in a solicitor firm, that's not a bad thing!!!

    Re: Really GOOD customer service

Just cut and paste from the BAD thread. My fault, jet-lagged 8)

Having just returned from across the Pond, the UK really, really can't do customer service the way the Canadians can!! Genuine sincerity, nothing too much trouble, chatty... I could go on.

Although, I must say British Airways treated us fab. Checked in on-line, and I was suckered into the cheaper-than-advertised upgrade to World Traveller Plus. Bugger it, we were on honeymoon, I thought. Anyway, we get to the airport and up to boarding, hubby is told he's not checked in. Eh? I'm at another desk alongside meanwhile being told both of us are getting upgraded to business class!!

    Result!!

The only problem now is that hubby's got a taste for it and next time wants to go nothing less than business....

As someone who has worked in Optics for ten years, this really worries me. That you can go online, 'guess' your prescription and they will make you glasses. Scary :?

Well, I can see your point, however I went to an optician to get contact lenses and they set me up with some that clearly weren't right for me. By their own admission they had to 'overpower one and underpower the other'.

On another note, I could go to a supermarket and buy ibuprofen - even if I had hypertension.

    Is there a difference?

(Other than about £150 in the price of the glasses from Glasses Direct and a normal optician?)

You should have gone to Specsavers
The difference is, 'normal' opticians are regulated by and have to work under the guidance of the GOC. Online shops get away with all sorts of things they cannot by taking advantage of legal loopholes, trading from outside the UK etc.
If you want 'diy' specs, that might or might not be correct, buy online. If you want ones that are dispensed by a qualified person, and made to your exact specification, then buy on the high street (& possibly pay a little more - not always looking at their prices).

Mothercare. I ordered something and got an email to say it had been dispatched. Waited for it for days and it didn't turn up. Emailed them to ask where it was, and got a reply saying sorry it was out of stock, and I should have had an email to let me know but as I hadn't they would refund me and I could choose something up to £25 for free, with free delivery, and they gave me a voucher for 10% off my next order as well.

Was pretty pleased with that outcome as the thing I ordered only cost £11 in the first place, so I got my money back and a freebie and some money off my next order.
