surgeons
Okay guys this is a bit of a strange one, but bare with me please. As I have no idea where to put such a strange request.
So are any of you loverly folks married to, related to, or even just mates with a surgeon who has served on the front line?
Only my 3 year old grandson was ( theres a lot of expletives here by the way) shot in the lung by an air rifle. It seems to me the paediatric surgeons bless them all seem to be at a bit of a loss, never having been put in this situation before and the decided action seems tobe to leave the pellet in his lung and pray to all the gods that it doesn't move?
Only it makes kind of sense to me that maybe they should be speaking to guys with experience of bullet /shrapnel wounds etc.
Tis a forlorn hope, my mate who is a retired Dr can't understand why they would leave it.
yours somewhat tired and stressed out nana

Gosh - what an awful thing for your family to have to go through. I hope the little one is recovering his ordeal.

Re: surgeons
auntylol, I've asked one of the body engineers from ARRSE (Filbert_Fox) to take a look at this thread and get in contact with you if he can offer any advice. Please beware of any new RPers contacting you by PM with 'information' as unfortunately there's a prolific Walt and bigamist who uses ARRSE and might see this thread and try to get involved. My thoughts are with you and your family at this worrying time.
Holy Cow!

Re: surgeons
Thanks to you both and for the warning Dozy B. The little one is fine in himself, as only 3 year olds can be, giving everyone a panic attack as he won't sit still- idiot surgeon' can't you get him to stay in bed?' nope not unless you sedate him.
Just seems really daft that the best that York Hill and Sick Kids can come up with is leave it and hope it doesn't move?
It's going to tear the family apart, what with media coverage, social work involvement and the fact it was my completely thick son in law the bairns dad who did it?

The surgeons at the Royal Belfast are probably pretty clued up too, if anyone has links there?
