If it's not in by Friday it won't be processed til Jan as it's working days and I am pretty sure DIO Ops go on xmas leave the same time as the army do though i am happy to be corrected on this.

Have decided on a date overnight so our move will be mid feb and hope to move in the week before he starts. This gives us a little more time to organise everything!

hey everyone! havnt been on for a wee while, hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year and wishing everyone all the best for 2012!

Hubby's start date confirmed as 13th Feb. We still dont have an assignment order number yet though so havnt been able to put in our housing app yet! Have come to the realisation that I'll have to move after hubby. Anyone got an idea of what a realistic timescale would be to put on our application form. If we do it in next couple of weeks (which we must be able to do as he will have to do his paperworl and attestation before going) then it would be very short notice to give the HIC for a Feb move? Would it be more realistic to put a dtae in March? Especially as theyve informed me there is a waiting list at Benson?

Speak to them! Mr K also spoke to the families officer to find out about areas etc and they were really helpful.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok. They know me here.

Don't worry about what is a realistic time frame, that's their problem not yours. Just put down the date that you want to move and let them work to find you somewhere by then. If they can't they won't be shy to let you know they can't!

Thanks. Is there not a minimum notice they require? If they have a waiting list in place or they cant allocate somewhere by the date we specify then how long do they have? Is it infinate or within a month etc?!

If I remember correctly the only date stipulation is something to do with it not being too long before Mr Kessy starts at his new post but obviously that wouldn't be an issue for you.

They should allocate you a house within 15 working days but if there are none available then it is very much a case of hurry up and wait. What I would do is put the form in then after a couple of days give the HIC a call 'just to make sure they got it ok' and then just ask if it's all filled out properly and if they have any idea if you are likely to be housed within the 15 days. If you ask nicely and aren't expecting miracles from them they will usually give you what info they possibly can.

wee update spoke to nice girl at High Wycome HIC, shes advised thatw e canput in our application before gettign an assignment order as logn as we have letter from his recruitment officer. they wont allocate us a house until the assignment order is recieved but it will get us on the system and onto the waiting list. Hopefully hubby can get the recruitment officer to agree as I really want to get the ball rolling! I hate all this uncertainty!
Also she was helpful in advising that a realistic timescale would be March/April so Im going to put Easter as our move in date, this would fit in with my son and changing school, handing in notice at my work etc. She also advised that we dont have to consider a property at High Wycome and to make it clear/state my reasons for not wanting this in a letter.
