Is AMMM "representative" of military wives?

Simple question really. I've been in for well over twenty years, and have never before encountered such a self-centred, self-serving individual. Attempting to leverage her position as an affiliate member of the "milly" community (as she fuckwittedly calls it) has gone on long enough, IMHO.

No disrespect to her ex-hubby, but AMMM pushing her "connection" with the military only reflects badly on the rest of us, whether serving or partners, male or female. It would be laughable were it not for the fact that some of the more gullible out there actually appear to believe she is in some way endorsed or approved of by the majority of service wives.

    Her crappy blog is subtitled:

"MARRIED TO THE MOD | DOMESTIC SLAVE | FIGHTING FOR INDEPENDENCE"

If you sympathise with that message, by all means click "yes".

I prefer to think most partners just crack on with their lives, rather than publicly whining about how hard it is to get by on the pay of a Squadron Leader with oodles of Flying Pay, living in an idyllic cottage in the country...

    So, vote away

why? is free speech not allowed on RP then? I'm not being rude, just canvassing opinion on a current affairs topic.

I don't think we don't all moan, I moan, I just don't say it's a common thing and that I speak for the sisterhood. Therefore I voted no, or as you put it 'You have got to be kidding!'

As to free speech, allowed and encouraged, except when there's moaning to the bosses.

I do think that she actually thought that she was helping and speaking up for the 'Milly Wifes' however, she has just across as an egotistical dribbling fame hungry bitter sloaney wannabe that has pee'd in a few peoples soup over the years.

She needs to move along and perhaps we should start auditioning for someone on here to replace her and her wise words.....???!!!!!- any takers...?!!!!!

Yes we are all different and the day we become clones of each other would be hideous!! I'm proud that we all cope in our own way and wouldn't want that to ever change. Like BB I don't think there is or should be a representative wife. AMMM grips my shit cos she purports to be just that. The woman is an egocentric, publicity seeking, selfish and immature female. It totally pisses me off that some folk will know no better and think we are all like her. I feel for her kids. At least Hagar seems to have the sense to skulk off and keep his gob shut.

Loving the poetry by the way. Enjoyed reading the ARRSER's opinions too

    Just incase I haven't made myself clear ... I voted no :-)

There's a thread on here somewhere about what we all do, and from memory it ranges from stay at home mums to serving soldiers and high powered PR execs (no not THAT one) and that's the way it should be. We aren't 'military wives or girlfriends' we're just wives or girlfriends, the military bit is just a job...its like having a representative group of train-drivers wives!

I clicked 'You have got to be kidding'

Having been around the Army my entire life I have seen some things, but have never met anyone quite like AMMM.

There's no option for 'she's an irritating tit of epic proportions'. Disappointed.

I'm not a Military Wife but I know a fair few, who are all disgusted by AMMM's ways.

Not once has any of them spurted out the half-wit cr@p that she does. They stand by their men and live by the phrase 'innocent til proven guilty'. They are also all very good at keeping their traps shut and would never dare to sell a story to any media, just for attention.

On that note, I voted 'No'

You know that MOD awareness campaign about not spilling the beans about your military friend/family on social media? Does that extent to flogging your story to the media - or, heavens to murgatroyd*, writing a blog about them...

*i really must use that phrase more often.

I mean 'somewhat' not 'yes' but it amounts to the same thing.

I wonder how the dysfunctional family got on with explaining daddy's escapades and mummy's Sun appearance this evening. Play time for the grenade is going to be a bit emotional. Poor sod.

I thought she had two kids? Am I wrong?

If I'm right why isnt she fussed about telling the other? I don't read her blog because it makes me want to hurt the laptop so I could have totally missed something.

Wow this thread is a catty one. Meow!

I recently read a magazine (good homes or something), which infuritated me to the degree I actually wrote to the magazine to complain. They had actually managed to drum up an article on a 'typical miliarty wife' or rather her home. The woman was related to Johnathon Dimbleby and was suposed to a big wig in Help For Heroes - which was supposedly her reason for appearing in the magazine.
I complained because it was such complete and utter drivel. The woman had been married to her officer husband for 7 months, yet she spouted on about the housing rules etc - most of which were incorrect, she then said she had spent evenings on the floor in her lounge crying, and then went on to add that every night when her husband came home she ran into his arms. Not once outside the opening sentence did she mention Help for Heroes (although in one room she did have a Help for Heroes cushion).
I mention this because I think it's all pretty similar. These women genuinely think they are the representivies of our comunity, but then they don't have any evidence to contradict this. Their only veiw of millitary society outside their own circles comes from their deep involvement with the 'Wives Club', which I think we all know is only attended by officers' wives looking to help their husbands promotion, one WO2's wife with the same hope, and the two new girls into the unit who don't know better than to stay well away.
This I think is the really irritating part. They do not have the decency to actually learn about the subject they talk about. I feel very certain about this because if they knew they would not act as they do.
Having said that I suspect the typical millitary spouse wouldn't be half so interesting as they would be a completely normal person with slightly higher tolerence and resilience levels!

It's all pretty difficult to coment upon though without falling into the same trap!

Edited to add: Appologies for all the poor spelling and repetition of words, it's late I'm knackered, and I can't be bothered to go back though it and correct it all!
So far today I've done alright. I haven't gossiped, I haven't lost my temper, I haven't been greedy, grumpy or very indulgent. But in a few minutes, I'm going to get out of bed, and from then on, I'm going to need a lot more help.
