Thinking of you today. Sorry I didn't see this earlier but when people are trying to get a rise out of me i rub my thumb in the palm of my hand and play a movie in my head. Usually of a burning candle. It's a technique I was taught to lower my bp.

Just saw this thread - all the best for today.
Had plenty of suggestions for you, but am sure you're in the thick of it already! Just remember: even if you do lose your rag, if anyone confronts you about it, I'm sure that once you explain (with backing from your mum, maybe) what your step-mother was doing, they'll be more than understanding.

Thank you everyone. Dizzy your idea helped me get through it.
Beebs, secretly I wanted to but that's what she wanted me to do. The service wasn't what me and my sister would've like but it went well.
She tried the emotional blackmail to get me to go back to hers afterwards but I just walked away with my head held high.
She has nothing and no-one whereas I have a loving family and his granddaughters. She'll never see them again and that's her own doing.

Well done for keeping your dignity! Maybe in time you can forgive her and feel pity for her - if she has behaved so badly for 10 years she must be a very unhappy person - maybe she felt threatened by you and is just sad and insecure. If people behave badly to me I try to see the reason behind their behaviour and feel sorry for them - not always easy though...........i am certainly no saint

merry christmas to you and your family

Poppy, she admitted a long time ago that she was jealous of the relationship me and my dad had, we were very very close before she came along.
Unfortunately I don't think I can find it in myself to forgive her. She's going to be a very bitter and lonely old woman. If only she'd realised that had she not tried to turn me against my mum, we could have actually got on quite well and she'd still have 2 lovely grandaughters to keep in touch with.

And beebs, love the poop idea!!!

you need time to heal and rightly so. In time you'll forgive but the killer for her is that you and those involved, will never forget
