Is there something about the Internet that makes people become total f**kwits from the safety of their keyboards when they probably wouldn't have the balls to say the same thing to that person's face?

Ah you mean keyboard warriors? Best way to handle them is to just not rise to it. Most of them are just looking for a reaction. Pisses them right off when they don't get one.

Not anything that's been directed at me. I'm just interested as to why people say things on forums that I'd bet £1000 they wouldn't have the cahones to say to that person's face... Whether they get some sort of kick out it or whether it makes them feel big and special.
I'd say it and tbh, I am actually better at holding back on the internet, than I am in person![]()
Could crop circles be the work of a cereal killer?
I'm say it how it is also !!
defiantly not known for holding back.
to the point all the way, pretty much as I am on here / fb as I am in real life.
resulting in loads of head shaking of almost everyone I know !
Derren Brown did an experiment on crowd mentality and how anonimity affects peoples judgements and actions. Well worth watching if that kind of thing interests you.

Ohhhh we could talk about the lucifer effect............................

Oh indeed there are academics lining up writing papers on the psychological and cultural discourses of writing on the Internet! Crowd think, group think, towing the consensus, etc.
I have the rule that everything written to the net stays there forever, so I have to be 100% comfortable with it - probably a hangover from my journalism days! Anyway, I'm far more blunt in real life.
And more sweary!

I'd say there are 2 types, those that say it as it is and would do so in real life, but those tend to know when to add compassion etc.
Then there are those that are missing something fundamental in their life and need to feel powerful and important and do so on the net, they tend to just wade in to make others feel as bad as them....
Just my view![]()
Nothing to see here, move on by....
You have to remember that most people adopt an e-persona, which often differs depending on where they are posting. Some people may adopt different persona's depending on which fora they are contributing to.
Naturally, I'm as nice in real life, and on every other forum, as I am on here. No way is there any e-schizophrenia going on, no sireeee.
So my point is, don't take it personal, they are usually only posting for a bite, every time you respond it encourages them. Have a look on the Dark Side for some great examples of how cuntish people can be to each other, and they're doing it for fun. It's like an S&M convention on some of the sub-forums.
I am as I appear on this site and that is; cowardly, domineering and full of rhetoric.

I'm nice to everyone all the time. Ask anyone.
If they say I'm not, they are obviously a blatant liar and need a kick in the clack, either on the internet or in real life.
I was going to mention that! It really interests me. Sadly, I think that the people looking for a rise out of others are actually in the minority; I think most people become more brazen when they have some kind of mask to hide behind...
Personally, I'm quite a conscious person, and hate offending people for no reason, so I always try and be fair with what I say (rather boring I know, but I am opinionated as well!) xxx
