Alternatively, if it happens again you could get some St Stropez and tan the rest of your face to match your hairline :-D
I know I'm late to this but my hairdresser mate swears by milk but it only works if it's done quickly after staining

Adding my support to preventative vaseline, which saved me from an oompa-loompa skin border around red hair... I was going to suggest an alcohol steri wipe, or any other type of rubbing alcohol (ladies, don't waste the vodka!)
Just don't resort to exfoliants! the stain is deeper than the skin no matter how raw you rub yourself. Voice of experience on that one!
