If your wanting to get to Elmpt (and probably be ok for JHQ although i dont know personally how easy it would be) and can get to Doncaster then dont mind a train journey in to Germany flying with thompsonfly.com to Amsterdam is pretty cheap.

Not sure what the flights cost last time (maleshape went all cave man on me and wouldnt let me pay but when i booked his it cost £50 inc taxes for just before christmas) Theres only a couple of flights a day but its cheap enough.
I left my car at doncaster for 5 days and that only cost me £37 prebooked. And the one way train fare from Roermond to Amsterdam Schipol was 23 euros with one change at Amsterdam Central.

we always go from dortmund to get home now as airberlin have stopped most of thier routes. we go with easyjet into stanstead, usually pay about £30 per person which is loads cheaper than we found airberlin to be. shame about airberlin, cant beat the rolls you get for free when you fly with them!!!!

i nearly always found stansted to duss (neid) was cheapest flight with ryanair. the OH was in Elmpt so was the best option for us. flew to eindhoven once which was a good price.
oh the good ol days when you're young and in love and will get up at 2am to visit your fella!!!!

One i've been using recently although not a plane is Norfolk line. If you're up in JHQ/Elmpt and going to the south of england you can be back in the UK in 5 hours (including the time on the boat) I can leave at 2 in the afternoon and be in Gosport by 9 in the evening. Best of all if you go to Ogirkes they can do a 3 day return for 43 euros and a 5 day for 52 for a car and upto 5 people. Handy if you're traveling with family or mates.

Or if you enter the codes 3DAYE or 5DAYE OR FSS (for longer trips) into the promtion code bit of their webiste you may get some pleasant surprises. But you didnt hear that from me.

Just a bit of info on the Ryanair flights....I'm in Fally and my boss goes back to Scotland on a monthly basis. He flies Bremen to Edinburgh and has never paid more than 50 - 60 pounds return....most times it costs about 20 pounds each way but he is going back this week and he is booked to come back Sunday but has just booked a flight back today to come back Monday for 5 pounds!!!! That was including his tax and CC charge..?!!!! A fiver for one way how fab is that?! Ive only been here since Jan and wasnt planning to go back much but at that price I'd be daft not to, especially since my husband went off to Irac yesterday. I've had a couple of people visit since we've been here and both travelled Newcastle to Hanover with TUIfly - they paid less than 80 pounds each, which is good but the Ryanair sounds much cheaper.

I also use Ryanair - booked a flight a few weeks ago now to go home next week and it cost me €8 - that was Bremen to Manchester, unfortunatly they don't fly this route everyday of the week but for that price I'm not complaining at missing out on a few days in the UK cause I'll have more money to spend on shopping now!

Whilst we are on the subject of flights ..... does anyone have any handy recommendations about airport parking in Berlin?

Thanks Yoni. We managed to find an amazing parking deal at Berlin Schonfeld airport - 19 Euros for a whole weeks parking! There are other car parks at the airport charging 10 times this amount, but we parked with a company called Q Park (www.park-and-travel.de). They are located just outside the airport and as soon as you are ready to go to the airport, they take you in their minibus to the terminal - only a 3 minute drive. They take your return flight details and pick you up when you arrive to take you back to the car park - all included in the cost of parking! Brilliant! They also offer services at Berlin Tegel & Dusseldorf airports.

I've bought a few last minutes flights from them. They bring in all the deals from different airlines and travel agents.

Flying between Münster/Osnabrück and Stansted on a very regular basis (every 6-8 weeks) with my little monster.
We always fly with AirBerlin and I can recommend them highly.

Even though we got stuck in sunny London for some days three weeks ago,
I would still recommend Air Berlin and we're flying over with them again in two days.
