Another question! (Eeek! 1st move imminent!...)

Should I wait and buy a new/secondhand washing machine when we get there? (Celle) or should I get one before we move? Can I get one duty free when we are there quickly (have 2 children and spending 3 days in limbo without)? The flat we are currently in supplied one, but we have to leave it behind when we move. It was pants anyway.

Probably worth investing in one before you go, stuff like that can be over priced especially if you are reliant on the naafi to purchase one!

    hope this helps

Trust me you will have to go to Hohne to buy a Naafi one and they only deliver on a Thursday to Celle, and if you buy locally it is expensive. Buy one and send it in freight. Trust me 3 days is ok without a washing machine.

Actually i find it cheaper and easier to order locally. if you have a realkauf near you, it shouldn't be a problem.

I found Realkauf more expensive unless it was a discount weekend.

There are a number of Facebook sites selling new and second hand items in Germany all run by Army wives, ebay version very useful. BFG HOHNE BAY, BFG Fallingbostel Bay, if you type in BFG and then search in Facebook. Hopes this helps

I had to buy a new washing machine whilst living in JHQ and it actually cost me more to buy it in the Naafi. But with a newborn at the time and hubby away I desperately needed 1. I would buy 1 before you move and take it with you - or have a look on the BFGbay sites on FB.

Thank you again for your helpful replies. From recent helpful advice of my local electricals retailer, I shall be buying one when I get there from the local town.

Am now busy panicking about the car insurance, as I asked too many questions to my insurer, so that when they understood that I would no longer be resident in the UK, they have said that they cannot insure me... I was only trying to get the 'green card' and add Husband onto my insurance now he has passed his test. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Think I need a drink now, just thinking about it.

Oh, and the boxes for packing have arrived today, so now it is all very real!

    Gulp!

Call Forces Financial, or another provider like Towergate Wilson (that right?) They will be able to help.
