    Work in Germany

    Hi All

Do any of you know of anywhere else to look for work other than the GLSU in Osnabruck? I am living in Osnabruck, have been for three months and there really are not many jobs. I would really like to work at the Med centre at Imphal or at the Law Courts on Roberts Barracks, any suggestions, pointers and info would be much appreicated.

    Re: Work in Germany

    Hi Hunneypie,
The only place other than GLSU you can look for work is at one of the schools/pre-schools or at the NAAFI.

If you definately want a job at the Court Martial Centre or Med Centre you will have to register at the GLSU in Woolwich and then keep an eye in the sixth sense or on the NAAFI notice boards for any jobs that come up.

It really is quite difficult over there but if you keep at it hopefully something suitable will come up soon.

    hope this is helpfull

    Nursing jobs in med centers

When i last lived in Germany a long time ago i used to work in the med cen as an enrolled nurse.
Does any one know if it is still possible for EN's to work in med centers now?

SSAFA employ the vast majority of the nurses employed within BFG now.

You can work in med centers if you're American.

If you're British you have to work in med centres.

Just looked on the SSAFA site - there are currently no vacancies being advertised on the site - link is http://www.ssafa.org.uk/vacancyList.asp?cat=1 - and they can send you messages when jobs do get advertised, although from seeing job adverts in the past I have vague recollections that they asked for level 1 nurses (but

    Urgent advice needed about Elmpt!

    Howdy!

Countdown to the move is on. I will shortly be leaving a job that I love and have been working towards for 4 years!!

I am aware that there is another Elmpt post but it appears to be dead, so I thought best to start a fresh one.

Is anyone currently in or around Elmpt that can offer me advice on where to look for jobs, or who I can speak to/email? The link to LEC vacancies from the HIVE isn't working and I am getting increasingly frustrated. I have emailed the HIVE and have had no reply.

I am starting to panic a little as I cannot afford to be with out work, and I am a career girl so would very much like to stay on the HR path. I have been working as an Assistant Manager & HR Manager of a Conference Centre & Hotel.

Any advice would be very appreciated!

    Thank you all! x x

Re: Urgent advice needed about Elmpt!

Hi, I am currently in JHQ, can you drive? you will be about 6 miles fom JHQ and there are a lot more jobs there, probably ones that will suit your skills better too and its easy to get to.

Elmpt/JHQ is probably one of the better posts in Germany since you are on the border to Belgium and Holland, most of the MQ's have been PUMA'd (upgraded) although you might get offered a MQ on Wildenrath about 12 miles away although it seems far its not when you realise the JHQ is only 5 miles away, a bus service during weekdays is available to both camps. Its quiet on Wilders and there is only a families bar for entertainment but its better for families with young Children and people who want the quieter life I guess, its safe and there are obvously no single squaddies to bother you, it can get quite raucious(sp?) on Elmpt from what i have heard, on a personal note I wouldn't want to be on Elmpt Station, JHQ is bad enough-lots to do but no families bar where you don't feel you are being pawed over!

    Any Q's just ask away

    You're a star!!

I do drive and we have been given quarters in Elmpt, Salmand (?) road. OH will prob get a bike to get round camp so that I can have the car.

Sounds interesting and quite exciting! Do you have any more info about vacancies? I am having the hardest time I had also been given the impression JHQ was much further away so that's a relief.

Do you know what the officer's 'entertainment' is like? My OH is one of the 'new breed' of Officers. We only have a cat, no children as yet, so quite curious as to what we can get up to! It will be the first time we have lived together in 2 years!

Any info you have job wise will be so greatly appreciated,
    Many thanks, Tesserooooo! x x x

Hi, I don;t know about entertainment re: Officers but I would hazard a guess that Shannons (the nightclub/bar) would not be somewhere to be seen!

    Try these links hun
    HIVE ELMPT
JOBS FRONT PAGE Click first arrow on right hand side for dependants jobs list which should give you this-jobs list for rhine area
Don't bother with 'DEL' positions as you have to registered on the German net for those and they are quite badly paid compared to GLSU jobs.
    also
    Schools vacancies

The pay depends on grade of job/how long you have worked with GLSU/RALSU but remember you do not pay income tax while working in Germany through these, only NI contributions so the pay doesn't seem quite so bad at the end of the month, sickness benefit is full pay for up to 10 weeks of the year, you get 30 days holiday too.
These are the pay grades, most jobs are 'C' grade second one down or 'LS' grade for school workers/teaching assistants.

    Good Luck!

Email Barbara at barbara.robinson328@land.mod.uk and ask her to put you on her mailing list for jobs, its a quicker update than if you wait for the website to be updated, or ring her on 0049 2161 472 3253, she is lovely, you may get through to esther too on that number but they both do the same job
