    LOA - Germany

Anyone a finance whizz out there and know roughly what LOA a Cpl with a wife and a kid will get in LOA in Germany?

I've got to give a rough guide to my solicitor by the end of this week, he told me this yesterday and OH is away on a course in Sennelager and I can't get hold of him all week.

Hi hon, the LOA list will be on DII, get hubby to ask his clerk. Word to the wise though it drops considerably this month due to the exchange rate.

    Re: LOA - Germany

I would Sammi but he's in Sennelagger all week and I have to tell my solicitor by Thursday because we have to get my statement to my ex husband by Friday. Would have been better if my solicitor had called me yesterday instead of emailing me because at least then I could of got him to do it yesterday! Having had a look at RHQ in arrse it looks like we'll be getting around £20 a day, but obviously that may change due to the exchange rate, and I think it was mentioned that the Army have decided it's cheaper to live in Germany than in UK right now. I'm not sure about that because I'm currently not there, but have been told Aldi is cheap to shop in, and as I am used to german cuisine hopefully it will be ok. I think I had better get my backside in gear when I come out and apply for a job too.

I just asked my partner for his advice - he's Navy but works with the Army. I thought that the JPA people might be able to help you - he said "possibly" but wondered if the HIVE at Celle would be a better bet. Anyway, the JPAC in Glasgow is open 0700-1900 Monday to Friday:

    Telephone : 0141 224 3600
    Freephone : 0800 085 3600
    Military : 94560 3600

Start with the JPAC - if they can't help, here are the details for the HIVE at Celle:

    Hope that this helps.

Hiya Samm, even though the LOA is based on the average basket price at the NAAFI we usually shop locally anyway. You are right ALDI, PLUS and LIDL are cheaper there are also WEZ and E-Centre just to name a few that you can shop at. The differences in food are minimal apart from the fact that the meat here seems to be better quality.

We have eaten healthier since being here because in Germany there is little or no frozen ready meals. You still have your tinned, jar and packet foods, but because in the early days I couldn't quite make out what was what without spending four hours in the supermarket and the aid of a German/ English dictionary, I began making sauces and other stuff from fresh.

I only shop in the NAFFI when I'm at work and want a snack. You will notice the price difference when you get here from a local to a NAAFI shop.

Don't worry - everyone understands your situation.

Ring the JPA people first thing tomorrow - they must know, after all, they do all the pay and stuff (or so I've been told).

    Re: LOA - Germany

I would check this out but loa is not accountable for CSA payments as it is to cover the extra costs of living and not an income.

I called my sa advisor and she confirmed this when i moved to germany
