    Dress hell

So the hunt has begun. This will not be a posh affair, just the two of us in Scotland in frigging winter :-)

I dont want anything too weddingy as it will be used at night for the Hogmanay celebration. He is wearing navy. I have an hour glass figure and am tall so anything with a corset would be good or skimming. I would also like velvet. Definitely no meringues! And it doesnt need to be white (a bit late for that to be honest)

The trouble is the minute you mention wedding everyone slaps a big fat wad of cash on top of the price and this time I have no desire to pay a shed load for a frock that will end up in a box in the cellar.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Have a look on Fairygothmother, they have some absolutely STUNNING corset dresses, corset/skirt combos that could work, kinda pricey but amazing quality

Oh my word that fairygothmother site is amazing! Do you think the red 'Wiggle' dress would be a bit much for a medal presentation in the mess

    Congratulations Dizzy btw!

Are you 100% about wearing a dress? I think I would go for a white trouser suit a la Bianca Jagger.

I'm loving the dresses on that fairy gothmother site - I've bookmarked it and now I'm going to have to spend some of MrM's hard earned cash!!

I bought my wedding dress from here:

Bridesmaids Dresses, Bridesmaid Dress, Portsmouth, Southampton, Bournemouth, Reading

I didn't actually buy a 'wedding dress' I bought a bridesmaid dress instead (wanted a specific colour). It was really good value for money and I have worn it since to a mess do.

Go 50's if you're an hourglass, with a little faux fur cape to keep you warm.

I'm going 50s style due to my shape. There's some gorgeous dresses out there and since you're tall you might be able to go actual vintage. Congratulations and good luck with the hunt x

Thanks for the congrats. I would like an evening dress length, ankle, but fitted. I guess I am more 40's than 50's but it has given me some ideas.

We are going for a 3 day hogmanay celebration (good job I kept my long frocks!) and getting wed on NYE. So a fur jacket or cape will definitely be in order.

Mrs M - it is very quiet! :-) Only parents know and a handful of friends. After saying never again nearly 8 years later here I am, but then he does have the patience of a saint. I will never get screwed over again mind you!!

I am a happy girlie and have a beautiful ring (behave!) and he is not too bad either. :-)
