    Renewal of vows...?

What do people think, is this something thats still done alot? i always thought it was for people who were trying to patch up a bad marriage, but since my hubby and i only had a quick wedding (long story short, i fell pregnant he was due to go on tour the following month, peer pressure form parents to protect me and baby led to wedding (which was already booked for the following year)) its something ive thought about alot, as i didnt get a big dress or get to invite half of the people i wanted to or get to drink . has anybody on here done it before and would you reccomend it or is it more hassle than its worth?

I plan on doing it. Two reasons. One is that when I married Mr Tree I already had a divorce behind me so know that not everything is forever. Because of this I didn't want to spend thousands on a day (eternal pessimist me!) just in case lol.

Also if you see the 'did you marry quick cos of a posting' or whatever it is called thread the full story is there but basically we didn't get the works either.

It will also be nice for my boys to be a part of it. My eldest was away art his dads (we knew it was only going to be a ceremony and no fun for him so it wasn't worth him missing time with his dad for especially because it would have meant him missing meeting his baby sister so soon after she was born) and my littlest wasn't born yet so in some ways when we eventually do renew our vows it will be like a celebration of our family as much as for the two of us.

It sounds nuts but me and hubby are going to renew our vows in Las Vegas by Elvis at one of those drive thru things. Tacky, but we both want to do it!!

Def going to renew ours, not because i didn't enjoy it the first time round (even though if i'd had my way it would have just been the two of us in vegas) just coz i'm not big on being the centre of things. But we have both said that when we hit 10 years we will do it aboard somewhere and it will be nice as SP said coz we'll be able to have our kids enjoy the day with us.

As for the 10 year point don't know why we picked that Number but i think now days not many marriages get to that point 5 was to short and 20 i'll be too old lol so 10 years. Only another 6 and half to go.

You'll be too old at the 20 year point Armylady? give me a break.... what does that make me at 32 year point? and I have to say, I still think I'm 18. What is that famous saying? 'Growing older is compulsory, but growing up is optional!'.

I'd love to do it, but we have a bit of an issue in that although we did the big white wedding thing 32 years ago, I've since changed my religion, which sort of makes it a tad difficult now. But who know's what will happen one of these days

We're planning on having a blessing, so that his family can all attend (he's Australian, so none could come over for our "quickie" wedding. Although, the longer we're married, the less I can be bothered to plan a second one!
