Thread: He proposed!

Ok so this is a bit late to let you all know!
Last friday was his pass out parade, and afterwards we had something to eat and me and his family went to wait with the other families for the lads to get all their stuff together to leave.
All the soldiers were lined up stood to attention at either side of the path leading up to the building where they stay, including my OH who was somewhere at the bottom.
His corporal came up to the families and asked where his family was, so we came forward and he shook his parents and sisters hand and then turned to me, and said ''and you must be Rari'' and I was like yeahh..and he told me to go with him, so he stood me in the middle of the lines at the end, and he went and joined the line himself. I asked one of the soldiers next to me what was going on, and he just said ''you'll see'' and my OH marched down the centre towards me, I was wondering what was going on and another soldier just told me to smile.
My OH marched and stood infront of me and went in his pocket and pulled out a box and got down on one knee. I was in so much shock I was shaking and tears were in his eyes! I was like what! and he said will you? and I said yes
and he got up and hugged me and gave me a kiss and the soldiers cheered and the families clapped. He went and joined the line and the corporal had them all go inside to get their things and tidy their rooms out.
I turned around and his sister had filmed it all on her phone, all his family and my family and the soldiers knew but me! I was shaking that much that I dropped the ring! so I decided to keep it in the box until I'd calmed down! It was a bit big so we took it for resizing when he came back and ive got it back in perfect size now
We're so happy we had a party when he got back. We've not been together long and its been like 5months now, but I get the feeling that relationships in the forces move faster than normal ones for some reason.
I'm starting university in september so we're going to have a long engagement and get married after ive graduated.

He went back this morning, to his phase 2 training..and I'm at that stage again of getting used to him not being around again, which is weird.
But I'm so happy! and I cant wait to see him again.

So thats a story for you all of our engagement! How were you proposed to? I'd like to hear the different ways theyve found to do this mine was definitely unique and none of my friends will get that.

Congrats! mine was when he came back for 10 days r and r during his sandy trip! I was happy that he did it, but at the same time would have felt twice as awful if something had happened in the remaining tour, but he said it was the only thing keeping him going for the first three months and something to look forward to for the last three! bless him x Congrats again! x

Congrats, Rari, and I'm actually very jealous... mine just asked me as we were lying in the dark about to fall asleep I said NO, you have to do better than that! It's supposed to be ROMANTIC, you daft tw*t! But the next night as I said goodbye to him at the airport I took it back, and said of course I would marry him and he didn't need to ask me again. The ring is now finally getting made - and will include marcasites cut from the chunk of pyrite he brought me back from the Canadian Rockies where he went on exercise last year. I told him I want him to do something special when he presents the ring, but hey, if he doesn't I'll just live with it, because he's everything I never knew I always wanted
