Help for Heroes.....
Ok so the OH finally proposed in Oct after a lot of hint dropping (nagging) With him being a RM and about to depart to the Sandy Place, I thought it would be a nice idea to get my favours from Help for Heroes. I'll be spending the money anyway so might as well give it to a good cause. So far I've seen wristbands and chocolate bars, but was wondering if anyone had any more ideas?!?!?

The Royal Marines Association has their own wristbands, they may be a good idea? There are so many different charities which help out with people in the forces and their families. SSAFA is a brilliant one!
This is such a good idea... I want to get married all over again just so I can do this!

Brilliant idea.
We asked our guests not to give us presents but to donate to charity instead - RN Association, Help for Heroes or the RNLI. Everyone raised quite a bit of dosh in the end!"Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws."

We did favours with pins on them - Breast cancer ones ( I wanted to do a mix of Breakthrough and MacMillan/Cancer Research but I could only get the pink pins in the end...) and pinned them to little labels on boxes of pick and mix childhood sweeties (aniseed balls, black jacks, that kind of thing)
The H4H is a good idea but there's also the Hols4Heroes over on Arrse
that might also be an idea? Always like a charity angle at a wedding - especially considering how much we all normally spend , even on a lower budget wedding these days

I think this is a lovely idea- if I ever decide to get hitched I may have to borrow this idea too- although I will make sure I write a little "thanks to bootneckwag for the inspiration" on all the tags

we were planning something similar back when we were still having a big wedding (we ran away and got married privately instead lol) it wasnt so much favours but we were giving out wristbands instead of button holes and the groom and groomsmen were having the medal pins that you can get on the H4H site pinned to their suits.

I'm thinking the chocolate bars will be the way forward as I've always appreciated having something to eat when I've got to the sit down stage of weddings!!
