Moving to cyprus - advice needed

Well hubby is in afghan and we have been told after he gets back we will be moving to cyprus. I am still very nervous about this move. We currently live in Germany.

Any advice people could give me would be greatly appreciated.

    1) Shipping a car out. We have just literally finished paying off the finance on our car and not willing to sell it so we were going to ship it out with us. Anyone recommend any good companies? Also roughly how much did it cost? What paperwork do I need to make sure we have when we ship it across?

    2) Pets - What paperwork do I have to fill in to get her across. She will be flying with us. Ive found 1 or 2 airlines that will carry her as baggage.

    3) How long does it take roughly for your household items to be shipped over? Is the shipping allowance really tiny? Im struggling to decide what we need to bring. We dont have much being newly married but i do like my home comforts!

    4) What are the officers quarters like in Episkopi? We would probably have a 2/3 bedroom house as we dont have children. What are the good areas? Which would be the best to recommend putting down?

I'm afraid I can't help you with shipping companies and indulging it via Marchwood is a bit of a no go at the moment cos there are no ships for the forseeable but people do send vehicles from Germany to Cyprus so it is do-able. When you get to Cyprus your hubby will need to visit the Fiscal Office at Episkopi to get a C104A (this is the duty free form he'll need to spring the car from the port when it arrives. This form requires both the engine number and the chassis number and I know one of these isn't shown on the BFG card so you'll need to get in touch with the manufacturer/dealer to get this info. At the port, make sure you don't leave without form C72. You'll then need to get it MOTd before registering it. Be warned; this can be bloody expensive. The folks at the Fiscal Office should be able to help you with where to find Dept of Transport in the WSBA etc

Have a look on Facebook for a page called BFC Helping Hands for Little Paws, bags of info on there

I don't know timescales from Germany, Gonzo might be able to help on that one. Whatever you do don't forget to bring a decent hoover, the issue ones are awful! If you've got a tumble dryer, bring it. Sounds mad but if your quarter doesn't have central heating you'll have wet washing all over the place in winter cos it's bloody cold! Again, have a look on Facebook for BFC Buy, Sell and Swap Shop; that's probably the best place to find info, second hand garden furniture, white goods etc. If your quarter doesn't have air con it's definitely worth getting a portable unit; you'll need it come summer if you want a decent night's sleep

    Hope that helps!

In Dhk so can't comment on qtrs.

I think the Officers getting a slightly higher cubic mtr to bring with them but the OR's have something like 9.58 cubic mtrs to bring with them when they move from anywhere. Against the 79 cubic mtrs you get for Germany. It really is nothing, and a lot of ours went into storage.

C5 has pretty much covered everything else, although I did get an email at work the other day to say that the next ship from Marchwood was going to be May.
