German Shepherd dog less than year old needs urgent home

Hi Expat friend of mine rescues mainly cats but some dogs in Limassol. She had a GSD who is less than a year old and desperate to find him a home. He thinks the cats are toys and can trip over his own shadow, and gorgeous doesn't even get close to describing him. To fund the neutering/rescues/feeding strays she and her husband work full time and that means, between working and caring for the others, he's not getting enough time or attention and becoming bored. Don't need to tell those who know this breed what boredom gets them into!!

Can anyone PLEASE help home this dog? She won't home to Cypriots for obvious reasons. At the very least she needs volunteer walkers to walk/train him every day but as she's out in the sticks this isn't the ideal option so adoption is preferred.

For those of you who don't know me I'm aka EPB on the other side!

MadOleBint have you tried FB? There is a BFC Re-Homing page on there that may be able to help.

I posted him, as did another FB friend, we got some replies saying ooh photos, am interested, then put photo up and............nothing. The page now seems to have disappeared entirely. The rescue lady has posted on some other page for buying/selling and it's so busy it just disappears. She's getting a lot of Cypriot interest but no way is this dog going to end up chained in a garden being a guard dog, he's intelligent but stupid if you know what I mean. I'd have him myself but I'm uk and he can't wait that long to get socialised.

    Sluggy,

Did you get a picture through? I have a friend who may be interested. Does depend on vaccs and such like as they are leaving December time.

OP - My friend is interested as her husband has been after a GSD for some time. They currently have a lab that they rescued over here and are either going to BFG or UK at xmas time. Obviously both have the same regs for pets entering the country as of Jan, and I am able to take the GSD in for a month if they end up UK way. My friend is going to speak with her hubby tonight and see what he says.

Does the GSD have his passport? Might be worth mentioning to people (bar cyps), as it may help with people coming forwards. I know a few Cyps that would love a good dog and not for the 'looking good guard dog' reasons. I'll ask a friend of mine, she had a fabulous, well loved dog, up until last year when he became ill and vets had to say 'bye bye' She's in Nicosia, i'll see what she says, she also knows a lot of brits in the south side who might be able to step forward.

By the way I have got the lady who owns the BFC Re-homing FB page to re-open it and make me an administrator so if you want to post the GSD on there I can then make everyone here aware of it

Well I have several 'friends of friends' who keep popping up but as of yet he still needs a home. He's only come off the streets a few weeks ago so no passport I'm afraid, and won't be available to UK til late Jan when new rules come in. Barc said they won't help, tried them before coming on here. Malcolm society have never helped my friend so I see no reason why they'd start now. Sadly, animal rescue is fiercely competitve and very little love gets spread around, seen it time and again. Too few people trying to help too many animals.

Yeah good thank you. He is very lively and constantly pushing boundaries but we're getting there...... i think !! I've been looking for somewhere close by to take him and do some training classes and recall work but cant seem to find anywhere. I think once i do and get him started things will be a little easier. Because i live on camp, he isn't allowed off the lead so its quite tough to know how well i am doing with him and if he recognizes me as the boss xx
