    Character Ideas

Little Tree turns 2 (:'( ) two days after we move so I've started planning his birthday party now. There is a woman here who makes the most amazing cakes and is well sort of fabulous in what she can do. Mr Tree will be joining us the evening before his party so I can order the cake from here and he collect it from her on the Friday and bring it with him.

Problem is little tree doesn't usually watch tv and isn't really 'into' any particular characters and i can't remember any of the little ones anymore. What sort of characters are suitable for two year old boys and would make an awesome looking cake?

I saw a bob the builder one once with all the characters in 3d.
All the cool kids have a signature but I have nothing witty or profound to say.

Does he have a particular toy that is dear to him? My mum got a copy of my childhood toy for my 16th - ok bit of an age difference but still a cool choice

Mickey Mouse, jake and the neverland pirates, chunnington, handy mandy there all the ones my 2 yrs is interested in at the moment. Or you could go with an army themed one.
Treat others like you want to be treated, because remember .. what goes around comes around!

Mrs M I was the same with Big Tree he was obsessed with Cbeebies (although boogie Pete was pretty tasty so I didnt mind watching that one lol)

We did Chuggington for his 1st birthday so that and Thomas are out. His 6 yr old cousin was a Thomas nut and has done it in all forms so I dont really want to do the same.

I was thinking of doing Scoop (i think its him, the one with confidence issues lol) from Bob cos he's the only character I like (yes me not the kids haha) but he's blue and Big Tree and blue icing is a nightmare waiting to happen.

TTL I was considering doing one of his fave toys but currently it's a hoover or my mobile, although he does like cars so that's a possibility.

Armylady I've never even heard of Jake and the Pirates! You might be onto something with the army theme, he is slightly obsessed with Mr Tree's boots and beret....

Hmm I'm thinking perhaps something along the lines of an army landrover with a small person sat on top holding a '2' flag.....Will talk it through with the cake maker on Wednesday. Thanks all

haha are you sat in my house?! Just had that very discussion with Mr Tree. He thinks the Landrover would be more interesting (although he is very biased when it comes to Landrovers!)

Has he got a favourite teddy bear or anything? or another toy that he's always playing with?
I love the idea of a Henry the hoover!!
For youngest's 2nd birthday we just did a butterfly cake and she loved it, so doesn't necessarily need to be a theme.
I'm quite lucky in that my 2 now love anything princesses, easy peasy!!!

My niece is like that. Hello kitty or disney princess and she's a happy camper! He loves to clean so he only really plays with cleaning equipment or cars. I have to say i like the Henry the Hoover idea as well but mr tree is quite taken with the land rover. As Mr tree is going to miss his actual birthday i sort of want to make sure his wishes are included too (usually I'd just go off on one and order everything I liked and he'd go along with it and be the one to sit blowing up the 4 million balloons we end up with!)

what about combining all the ideas ? i know that sounds rubbish, but what about a landrover either as a cake or ontop of a cake with a mobile phone and a henry, boots and a beret all spilling out of the back, or being dragged along behind.

Sarah I see how you're thinking, maybe a henry with an open lid and a land rover beret boots an a phone poking out....hmm I'd have to see how workable that would be for her, however this woman made a working angry birds cake so you never know what she can do!

How do you mean a little soldier? As in a stand alone 3d soldier, or a toddler in green kit?

Mr tree better have something the amount of feeling sorry for himself he's done today! (to be fair he was quite pale earlier but shh that might count for sympathy) Little Tree doesn't do stuffed toys unless he's using them to beat you round the head!
