    Teen translations

    My brats have started using the English language in a way That means I am no longer always 100% sure of what they are saying.

    Below are some words that I know the meaning of, having beaten the meanings out of them! Please feel free to add or request meanings. It will help me and maybe you or others!

    Bates = Honourable.

    Reem = Well fit.

    Book = Cool.

    Skeen = Lucky/Jealous.

    Jacks = Five pounds.

    There are more... And a lot of meanings seem to have changed!!

    My god even at 22 I'm now feeling i'm further and further away from my youth lol. I thought I knew most of the cool hip words but it seems not anymore lol. The only one I recognise is Reem from TOWIE... thats about it.

    Although experience has taught me that words can change in meaning according to where your placed geographically, I moved from Yorkshire when I was ten down to Devon and found that words and their meanings completely changed!

    Might be worth posting roughly where in the country the child speaking gibberish is
    "You don't think there's anything amiss? I'm sitting here wearing a red and white checked gingham dress and army boots and you think that's un-amiss?"

    Jacks - for a fiver has come around again, was about when I was a youth, think it's cockney rhyming slang.

    Epic/Epic fail - I think I get it, but I couldn't explain it.

    Sick - this is one down this way to describe "epic" surfing waves.

    I guess cool and hip and radical just won't cut it anymore ;-)

    Sket !! I love that word, it's horrible but when people say it in London accent !!

    Bang tidy means fit I think, like "look at her she's bang tidy" that man who does celeb juice is a bit weird tho no wonder he put them both together !!

    Here are a few from Middlesex (Uxbridge/West Drayton way). I hear the following from my lot at school (thank the gods for half-term because I needed a break from it!)

    Bare - meaning 'lots' or 'very', as in 'it's bare cold today' or 'teacher gave us bare homework'
    Sick - meaning really, really cool
    Butters - meaning 'ugly' when applied to people, or 'nasty' when applied to other things, like food.

    My dss (from Essex) came over not too long ago and was using these words, mainly sick. Which I took offence to until someone pointed out what it actually meant.

    I was quite confused for the ten days!

    I find that using the words that they use makes them so uncool they refrain from using them at home! Whatever!
