2011 School Summer Holiday Survival Thread

I can not be the only parent who finds summer holidays really, really hard going. My FB friends are billing and cooing about having their kiddiewinks off for six weeks, but I am already pulling my hair out.

So what are you all upto? Are you out for days, off to the cinema or just staying put and plonking the kids in front of Sky every morning and pretending the cat/dog/hamster is the best childcare you ever had?

We are doing a bit of both. Have just survived having the step-shild over, which was not much fun given his recent antics and the fact we may have to go to court to get him with us permanently (if it comes to that). Plus we spent €600 keeping both him and my ds entertained in 10 days ... ffs

My son goes on his travels next week, so will just be me, the youngest and occasionally Mr Gonzo for a few weeks.

9 weeks off for my teenage cherubs, sadly lack of finances mean nothing planned they are home birds and seem happy to sit inside rooms with their technology!

We blacknastied her and stuffed her into the broomcupboard, only leting her out occasionally so she won't get rickets

have to ask but a little scared, what the hell is blacknastied ???

my two are mostly like bootss kids, happy with the beeping things, although i do pull them out into the sun occasionally LOL, the OH is taking the boy fishing on the broads soon, dont know how much fishing will be done though, more like a floating pub crawl, while looking at girls, at least for the boy. ( better only be the boy !!) i keep telling the girl she should go out with her friends, swimming bowling ANYTHING i've even offered to pay, but apparently its too much effort !! am forcing her to go to the globe in a couple of weeks, thanks moomin, not sure she will thank you !

oh forgot to say - if you have a cineworld near you and the kids really like the movies, take a look at their unlimited card, its about £15 a month each and they can go every day if they want, can of coke and a packet of crisps from iceland multipack up their sleeve and its a cheap afternoon

Old thread, and summer hols are over (thank heavens?) But seen this deal this morning, thought it may be of use to a few mums out there.

It's a really beautiful play house, and looks like it would be around for a few years to play in as well as looking very pretty!
Think it will be a good, if not early, xmas pressie tho. We're moving from an apartment into a house very soon, so am looking forward to filling all that extra space with things for the kids haha!
