    FAO Schuh

    Hiya chick,

Just a quickie. If I remember rightly you had an issue with weaning not long ago. Just wondering if you could share your, or others wisdom.

I have been giving my daughter proper food since she was 3 months because she was starving but she has gone right off of her food since being here. What would you do?

Sorry I know i'm not Schuh but we're weaning smallest dude at the moment as well. He has been on solids since about 3 and a 1/ months as well. When he is having a growth spurt I find he eats loads then goes off food almost completely for a while after.
In your little ones case thoguh could it possibly be the heat? i know i never feel like eating when its hot so perhaps while she is still aclimatising she may not feel like food much. Maybe trying her with some cold food just to keep her appetite up until shes more used to the temperature?

She is lapping up the yoghurts so you are probably right. I forgot that you had a little one too S_T. Thank you.

I don't have children, but just wondered if its worth speaking to the health visitor who has probably tons of experience new families having just arrived with young kids who would be able to give you some hints and tips!

It could be the heat - it could be millions of things and she is just settling down. Out of interest do you use local water or bottled water? Even if you are using the same formula it might taste different if you are using different water!

At least you are getting something inside with the yoghurts! How about making her some jelly to squidge with her fingers?

What stage of weaning are you on? Puree or chunky with finger food? Lots of people would go a step backwards with it but I would use this as a time to introduce as many new flavours as possible. Let her taste everything you are eating just to stimulate her tastebuds - even if she does not like it.

I feel for you as I used to find weaning really stressful!

This was the list I was told to go by.

    Drinking, check.
    Peeing, check.
    Poohing, check.
    Temperature normal, check.
    Not in pain, check.
    Sleeping as usual, check.
    Gaining weight, check.

And most importantly, Mother happy, check.

If you have any concerns, see a real Health Visitor or your Doctor. Batter a fretful Mother bringing in a well child than an unwell child staying home.
