Did it take for you to get pregnant (assuming you were trying?)

me and my fiance have been trying for a baby for just over 5 months now and nothing - i feel like it will never happen

Bet you've been there, waiting for a bus that never turns up and went you light a cig or walk away, 5 turn up at once.

If you expect it, it will take longer to happen. But a friend received medical advice, less sex, apparently a lot of sex causes acidic levels, which kills off sperm, or something. Sex once a day every other day, from the 1st day of your last period, you start to ovulate and 7-14 days after your period (depending on who you ask as the day thing changes grrrr), you are very fertile. This is the best time to have sex, according to her doctor. She conceived within 6 months of trying though.

thanks Jos, no havent been to the doctors yet, was going to wait until around December if i still havent conceived, as then it will be a year and i think most doctors tell you to give a year anyway.

we only 'do it' (how romantic :roll: lol) at weekends as we dont currently live together so i know it is going to be more difficult to conceive.

we are looking for a house to buy up this end (think we have decided it would be best as i would have my family and friends around me up here) but it will still only be at weekends we can do the deed!!!

I was told days 13-15 o f your menstrual cycle(day 1 being the 1st day of your period) are the best days to aim for....My first was conceived whilst i was on the pill, and second took a couple of months of trying...everyone is different though so i wouldn't worry..

Basically, aim around 24/48hrs before your 'painter' is due and exactly right after your 'painter' is due :lol:

Mind you, if you want to buy a house, it is best to do so before you get pregnant. Stress is a high factor and seeing as you only see your OH at weekends, you will be left alone to fend for yourself until otherwise. It's not nice when your OH isn't around or paying attention during a pregnancy, it's when your 'eastenders' greatest audition moments occur, dramatics, the lot :lol:

As for conceiving, I really base it on 'when it's your time', when mother nature thinks this is the time for you, it will happen. You can buy those home kits where you can see when your ovulating etc, get as much info as you can but do see a doctor, even if they say wait a year, they'll still give you useful hints n tips.

you ovulate between day 11-16ish depending on your cycle,and sperm can stay alive for a few days up there so as long as you're playing hide the sausage as often as you can from day 9 onwards,you stand a better chance of conceiving!

took me and hubby no time at all.....the sex was not memorable ops: .....I still swear it's because I rolled in the wet patch!! :wink:

Yup thats what happened to me first time and second time I had been on Depo injection for 2 years, came off it and was caught straight away, so quickly infact my Doctor went into shock, he couldnt believe it!

I went for a smear and things not realising I was pregnant, more worrying was the fact they never noticed either!!

I didnt take long with my daughter(we werent really trying) & when she was 1 we decided to try again & its took us seven yrs (baby due 2wks today).i was on the depo injection for 6mths & it took a other 6mths for my periods to come back & i had put a lot of weight on with it & this didnt help to get pregnant. everybody is different,we were told by the doc to try for a 1yr & if nothing then they would do tests. hope you are lucky very soon.

Mine was different too. Off pill, conceived in the next 4 months but for second baby... boy it was ages.... started when son was 18 months old... nothing happened a later so went to doc who put me on clomid for a year but I stopped when it was going to reach the high dose as I didn't want to take the risk of multiple births!

So after that I had laparoscopy in Nov and by Feb following year... BINGO I was preggers! And it was just one baby so he was born in Oct.

I was told not to try too hard - meaning not to have sex too much!!

Everyone's different. Just take the time - it'll come when it's ready!

My children were conceived while on the pill, I think it was the 6 month abstinence (thanks to op tours) that did it for us.

Some friends of ours have been trying for a baby for years, they asked us what our secret was and she laughed when I told her to stop having sex!
I only meant for a few weeks though, it must help recharge the batteries or something???

Move house ... I fell pregnant with my son after I moved, a friend of mine who had been trying for ages ... convinced she wasnt gonna get pregger's ... told me she was moving house ... I told her you watch u will end up pregnant ...of course she laughted at me .... but within 2 months of moving, she was pregnant :lol:

My OH dosn't want any kids of his own (he says cos hes old) lol he is a bit worried cos in July the kids and I move up to be with him - (New House) lol I suggested getting the snip before we arrive :twisted:

I hope you realise how traumatised i am now thanks to all you crazy overly-fertile women! OH is not coming near me with a barge-pole!

I think a barge pole would be one of the safest things for him to come near you with!!!
