    Travelling with baby

Folks, I'm after a bit of advice.

We'll be taking Rosebud up to see her Scottish rellies around Easter and whilst we've just about cracked the major logistical operation that's required, our thoughts turn to sleeping arrangements.

I've had a look at travel cots but for one, they seem bloody expensive for what they are and for two, we're probably only going to use it the once just for this trip.

Do we really have to fork out for one, or is there something else we can do? Rosebud sleeps in her Moses basket in her own room at home, so her own space or nest is important.

    Many thanks.

Is there no way you could take the moses basket with you? If not do you have anyone friends near you that you could borrow a travel cot off

We travel so much, we have 3 travel cots one at my mums, one at my sister in laws and one at home.

Good idea, but I have a horrible feeling she's going to be too big for her basket by the time we go.

We've asked around but it seems Easter is a popular time for folks to go away with their babies

At least if you take her moses basket she still has her comforts, have you tried ebay for travel cots?

How old is she now and are you on your local facebook buying and selling site? Theres always stuff like that on my local one.

I shall invest in the Graco one that doubles as a playpen to be used when home which collapses for easy transportation.

When we went home at Christmas, our wee man slept in his pram as we had invested in the proper overnight mattress.

We also had a pop up travel cot which we didnt use and ill be selling it on the local site.

There's lots of options but itdepends if she's fussy or not, our little man clearly isnt

Kiddicare.com are really reasonable - you can get a travel cot on there for £25 and sell it on afterwards if you won't use it again x

Buy a travel cot, you will find that over the next couple of years you will get some use out of it. My was invaluable as a play pen just for when I went to the toilet, took washing upstairs etc., Word to the wise, let her spend a night or two in it before you go so she is used to sleeping in it.

Our local Freecycle group often has requests for baby / chilld items, both for baby's / child's main home and from grandparents / other relatives asking for items to be used by visiting babies / children. Definitely worth a try. Although most groups prefer members to offer a few items before asking for things.

Thanks so much ladies. I like the idea of something that doubles up as a playpen. Little Rosebud is a mobile wee thing already. Will dig about on eBay when pay day comes around again

WR you're in my vicinity, I have a travelcot you can borrow for easter if you so wish. I bought it thinking we'd use it loads, but I think its been up about 4 times in 4 years!!!
Its a mothercare one, really easy to put up. Its still in our garage as my sister has asked me to keep all of our baby stuff to hand to her later this year/early next hopefully, but can lend things out!

TBHI would purchase a travel cot, they come in handy for a fair few years and don't take up too much space, when packed away. You can pick them up cheap on ebay

I don't know if you have ever been to Blackbushe market WR. It's a bit of a drive away but you can get brand new good quality baby stuff at knockdown prices on some of the stalls (as well as a world of other weird and wonderful stuff cheaper than the high street). We got a Koochi travel cot from there for £15.
