Why should someone get accommodation or housing allowance paid for by my income tax just because they have a child, an absent partner and are unable to work? They should not have the option of having their own place and instead members of their immediate family should be able to claim a tax allowance for accommodating them. Sound harsh? Well I am sorry but other countries and cultures have several generations living in the same property and it solves all sorts of problems such as childcare etc.,

Personally, I think that the patience of taxpayers has been completely pushed to the limit by it all.

Lots of people who find themselves needing to claim housing ect have been working tax payers. I had a child at the age of 28 financially ok married both working ect, when my child turned 6 months I found out my husband had been playing away and split up a year later with nothing, and yes my soon to be ex-husband pays child maintenance £30 a week hardly going to pay my rent and bills. I carried on working full time until 4 weeks ago after the person who was looking after my child died and I could no longer afford private childcare (being on call every other week is also a problem with a 2 yr. old). So now I am claiming housing benefit ect, and why shouldn’t I after paying tax for 13 years after leaving college? I hope this will be a short time fix until I can find employment around childcare I have available. Although yes I feel embarrassed at my situation and it’s not what you have planned for your life but shit happens, but I do not think I should be forced to live with my parents or anybody else after paying a hell of a lot of money into the system for many years, I need help now and thankfully am receiving it. Many people need help in lots of different ways and if they have paid in to the system why should they not get help back when they really need it? My only problem is with people that have no intentions of working or have never paid in the system and enjoy sitting around watching jk on the plasma TV’s.
