First Tour and General Nonsense -7

A very quick update as I've had no time online as of late. I promise this entry isn't war and peace...that'll keep for next week when I'm HOME!
Things have been H E C T I C here and are only about to calm down. I've been very fortunate to have a call every day - except on Monday - from the OH since he went to the Sandpit and he sounds thoroughly bored with his job (which is good - it means the "exciting" stuff like being shot at/blown up isn't happening as of yet) though his attendance at the gym is making me think he should be seeing a psychiatrist. Perhaps he's having "issues" after all?
Anyhoo. Not the most chirpy of entries but it has to be said. My lovely, lovely, amazing, funny, cracking Dad died last week. Horrendous. It hasn't hit me --- yet --- but at least I know that this time and will be able to cope with it when it does. Just been keeping busy, busy, busy and doing all the legal stuff (I am defo going to write a separate list of how that works up in Jockistan for anyone who may be unfortunate enough to have to find out as we've had the most amazing help ever). Anyhow - I've been running around all over the place, went on a bit of a "shopping spree" last week and only just realised that I did (grief-shopping is guilt-free. Hubby just said "do what you need to") but I do have a gorgeous pair of Nine West knee-high boots to show for it
Funeral was good - all went well - and the wake was in the true CK Family stylee. Inlaws arrived with brother in law as "your hubby wants to be here and can't so we come a poor 2nd" which I thought was amazing - and the wake was just fantastic. As Dad would have wanted - singing, dancing, story-telling, MUCH drunkenness and lots of hugging and laughter. A true Party - as it should be.
The fact that OH wasn't here was, of course, crap after I'd had a couple of drinkies but it wasn't devastatingly so - well, he could have been , according to the lovely people on the Compassionate Line (VERY good service from them as I was bawling my eyes out when I called them to "pass the message on" to OH in the Sand) and I can confirm that I said "No, don't send him home, he hates flying at the best of times and I want him to get his leave in March"
Practicalities - I'm so horribly practical since I met Mr CK but it's worked in my favour. I'm going to have to fecking thank him for that now...grrrrr.
But I'm good , people, I'm heading home soon - and will be online to update with stories of dogs going mental (baked beans+boxers=noxious toxic air) and all other things Tour related.
That fecking parcel is still sitting in the lounge waiting to be posted...yet another thing on my "to do list"...
