UK to Oz Lateral Transfers?! Come say hi!

If you and your family transferred from the British Army into the ADF come say hi! We've been in Oz since February 2010 and so far, SO GOOD! 8)

We were thinking about it at one point. I do love the sound of it ( I have three friends who have emigrated and they can't rave enough about it).

I would miss my family too much though

We just saw it as the perfect opportunity to get away from the general cr*p of the UK and especially the madness that's still happening in NI. I was not only a teacher full-time, but part-time police and it just wasn't a safe place for us to live anymore! After 32 years of living with that chaos, I'd finally had enough! Best move we ever made, we finally feel 'free' and are loving our new lives! It's a brilliant place!

We've a few mates who transferred, RA chaps. I believe the gates are closed for future transferees?
One couple I know the fella did his 22 in British Army, 2 years as a civvy in Sydney then joined Oz army!! Other couple I know have arrived in Oz within the last 10 days he'd done Longlook and fell in love with the place.

The gates are temporarily closed from what I've heard, one things for sure, there don't appear to be any interviews this Summer as the ARRSE thread is dead and normally people would be posting like billyo on it looking for advice. Friends we met at our interview have just arrived in Darwin and so far so good. Most of those interviewed last year are here already, some have yet to arrive though.

Would it be something you'd consider in the future as a family Bootiful?

I love Northern Ireland too, but just got fed up with the crappy weather 364 days a year and also the political situation. Watched my back for too many years, time to start living life and feeling free of all that crap!
