...or how about going the whole hog and sending a TV Bluey... ?

    http://www.ssvc.com/bfbs/tv/tvbluey/bluey_index.htm

We try to shoot TV Blueys to get your message home or abroad as often as we can. But we can’t do it all the time and can’t go everywhere. If you’re at home, based in a garrison, port or base, or if you’re serving overseas, why not record your own TV Bluey for a loved one or friend? Just beg, borrow or steal a small digital camera, film your own message, send it to us and we’ll broadcast it on BFBS Television. Your loved one will get to see it in Kabul or Hohne, in Basra or Cyprus, and anywhere we broadcast. (But remember: we don’t transmit in the UK).
Think I'd scare the living sh*t out of my OH if I suddenly popped up on telly  but he did mention me using my camcorder the other day, although I don't think that's what he had in mind

Re: 23rd Dec - watch live BFBS xmas special on the web

23rd Dec - Watch Live BFBS Xmas special on the web

Whether your loved ones are at home next to you, or on the other side of the world, in Iraq or the UK, Bosnia or the Falklands, let them know you’re thinking of them this Christmas.

Room 785’s Sim Courtie will be joined on the yuletide sofa by BFBS Reports’ Emma Davies from 1835 CET, Saturday, 23rd December, to host a live Christmas special you can take part in, full of TV Blueys, competitions, phone-ins and messages galore.

And, for the first time ever, we’ll be streaming the entire show live on the web so family and friends in the UK can watch and send messages too. So get your Christmas greetings and dedications coming into us, and tell everyone in the UK about it.

There are loads of ways you and your family can get in touch and take part. You can start now by sending in Christmas cards – get the kids to make their own – photos or even videos for us to show on the night.

Send them to Merry Christmas from BFBS, BFP0 785.

You’ll be able to text and e-mail us on the night itself, too, of course, and we’ll give you those numbers then.
You can send a message via HERE. Messages will be shown on the BFBS website from the 22nd and you'll be able to view them over the holidays.

    Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas!
